This document describes a novel method for the covalent immobilization and patterning of unmodified carbohydrates onto glass substrates using self-assembled monolayers with photoactive phthalimide chromophores. The technique allows for high-throughput carbohydrate microarray construction without prior chemical modification, enhancing grafting efficiency and providing control over the immobilization shape. This advancement has potential applications in materials science, biotechnology, and medical research.
