The past few years have seen an explosion of well-being technology solutions. These range from highly specialized mobile apps focused on specific well-being needs such as sleep hygiene or diabetes management, to comprehensive well-being platforms that integrate health monitoring, wellness education, physician care, counseling,
and social support networks. This article provides guidance on understanding and navigating the complex and growing field of well-being technology.

Worksite Wellness Toolkit for Community Based Organizationsbeccapurnell
The Worksite Wellness toolkit was designed to serve as a resource guide for community-based organizations in order to implement worksite wellness activities and programs at little to no cost. Worksite wellness is the promotion of employee health at the worksite.
This white paper discusses the important roles that culture, leadership and
communication play in developing successful wellbeing strategies in the
workplace.
Professor Cary Cooper, a renowned expert in organisational psychology,
discusses the reasons for implementing wellbeing strategies. Although creating
a motivated, flexible and committed workforce may be the crucial driver
for employers, they should also understand the moral aspect to improving
employees’ wellbeing. Employees will respond negatively to wellbeing initiatives
if they believe they are merely being implemented to get them to work harder.
That is why harnessing the right culture within a workplace is important, so
there is an environment where employee wellbeing can flourish. Leadership
is key to developing this culture and its success relies upon the buy in and
cooperation of all leaders from the board down.
Communication is then vital as engaging with employees about the wellbeing
programme will help to demonstrate that it is ongoing and not just a fad.
Continually surveying employees to seek their views on the programme will
then ensure that it remains relevant and continues to meet their needs.

St. Joseph Health: Faith in Action
St. Joseph Health (SJH) is a large Catholic health care organization with more than 24,000 employ-
ees and $5 billion total net revenue in 2013. SJH provides a full range of care to patients in Califor-
nia, western Texas, and eastern New Mexico through an integrated delivery system that includes
16 acute care hospitals with more than 4,100 licensed beds, home health agencies, skilled-nursing
facilities, community clinics, and physician organizations.
SJH’s mission, vision, and values statements reflect its religious tradition and community service
orientation.
Our Mission: To extend the healing ministry of Jesus in the tradition of the Sisters
of St. Joseph of Orange by continually improving the health and quality of life of
people in the communities we serve.
Our Vision: We bring people together to provide compassionate care, promote
health improvement and create healthy communities.
Our Values: The St. Joseph Health is comprised of four core values:
DIGNITY: We respect each person as an inherently valuable member of the
human community and as a unique expression of life.
SERVICE: We bring people together who recognize that every interaction is a
unique opportunity to serve one another, the community, and society.
EXCELLENCE: We foster personal and professional development, account-
ability, innovation, teamwork, and commitment to quality.
JUSTICE: We advocate for systems and structures that are attuned to the
needs of the vulnerable and disadvantaged and that promote a sense of com-
munity among all persons. (St. Joseph Health, 2014)

To achieve its mission and operationalize its values, SJH has declared three strategic goals: To assess
progress toward achieving these goals, SJH has become a highly data-driven organization, devoting
considerable resources to measure and monitor patient and employee satisfaction, clinical quality
of care, and population health status.

THE LEADER: My name is Stefanie Kuerschner. I am the President and CEO of both Population Well® and TRUEStudios®. As a
health industry insider, I will lead the charge with a corporate wellness solution in one hand and a mind/body
personal fitness brand in the other. The trajectory of my own life as a woman, a 23-year-strong thriving cancer
survivor, a busy mother of 2 young women, a nurse, a traveling corporate executive, and a fitness-for-wellness
consumer led me to earn certifications that include nursing informatics, yoga nurse, yoga and cycling instructor,
and corporate wellness coach. My own life’s work and mind/body personal fitness have inspired me and uniquely
qualify me for this business venture with the support and backing of healthcare experts and consultants.
You will find me to be a high-performance blend of ambitious executive leadership and 20 years’ experience in
corporate blue chip healthcare systems including Relay Health, McKesson, Mayo Clinic, and The Advisory Board
Company. I have a revered and rock-solid reputation for executing market-based business development plans by
incorporating extensive healthcare, health information technology, and wellness industry business skills and
knowledge. I am a qualified, passionate RN first with an MBA in Healthcare Administration & Finance, a BS in
Nursing, and ANA–RN board credentials. Certified ANCC Nursing Informatics & Yoga Nurse; AASM WellCoach;

pending 2016 completion that include: IHCC–Master’s Level Integrative Health Coach.
THE FACTS: The health and wellness sector is experiencing exponential growth in the Wisconsin economy. With a rise in
awareness and exciting fitness trends, people are motivated more than ever to improve their wellness through
fitness. Multi-tenant complexes, hotels/resorts, and companies are also motivated more than ever to offer in-
community and in-house corporate wellness options to tenants, guests, and employees with incentives that
result in lower corporate insurance rates and other market-place benefits.
THE GOALS: Fitness is not just personal. Wellness is not just corporate. Personal fitness and corporate wellness are valid and
attainable national healthcare goals. It is my goal to raise the bar in the mind/body personal fitness and
corporate wellness business and in our community through this business venture.
Population Well® for corporate/hospitality/community wellness through the TRUEStudio® mind/body personal fitness brand.
