The Onion Route is a network of 21 entrepreneurs along the shore of Lake Peipus who work together to introduce and preserve the multicultural region. Their goals are to offer tourism experiences that showcase the Russian Old Believers culture, Estonian peasant culture, and Baltic German heritage through local resources like onions, fish, and cranberries. The network was established in 2009 to attract both domestic and foreign tourists through cooperation and unique events like an Onion Chopping Championship.
