This document discusses efforts to promote cultural heritage in Savonlinna, Finland through various initiatives and partnerships. In Kumppanuuspöytä ”Local democracy” – forum where local people can participate in planning the distribution of funding provided.
•5 areas – each area has their own local chairman who together follow
•Anyone attending can make a proposal about the topic important for them or the area they live in
•”local democracy” – model of city of Savonlinna encourages the opportunities of the local people to bring important topics for them or to the area they live in to the preparation and decision making of city government
•Forum brings together local people and occupants of city of Savonlinna to discuss the proposals
•Twice a year (Spring/Autumn) – tracking of the proposals are made
Project coordinated by villages’ association
•Funded by the local Leader-group and city of Savonlinna
•The project created 800 signposts to guide the local residents and tourists on hiking routes and sights around Savonlinna area. Routes and sights can be found at lipas.fi – webpage.
•The information about the routes and services and activities along the routes were collected and gathered in cooperation with the local villages´ associations, residents´ associations and tourism companies
• Volunteers from associations and tourism companies set up the signposts to the routes
•Project also funded the training to become a local guide for seven person. These people were committed to work as a tourist guide and maintain the routes. The training was provided by Savonlinna Tourist Guides and Savonlinna Summer University
