3. ABOUT KOREA UNIVERSITY
 First established in 1905, it has been one of the most
prestigious universities in Korea for over 100 years
 Korea University is ranked as the overall top private institute
in Korea by The Times and is known as one of the top
research institutions in Korea

 The University Campus covers 190 acres and houses more
than 33,000 students from all over the nation and the world

4. ABOUT THE ISC PROGRAM
 The ISC program run by
Korea University is a 4 or 6
week academic program that
runs from the end of June or
early July until August
 In 2014, over 1,600 students
participated from 230
institutions in about 40
countries in the world.

6. FACILITIES (CONT.)
 The University Welfare and Health Center provides
primary medical and dental care for students. There is
one central clinic on the Main Campus and two branch
clinics on the Science and Seochang Campus
 The Korea Medical Center consists of two general
hospitals and two teaching hospitals with the latest
technology available for the detection and treatment of
disease
 The Community Education Center offers programs that
provide meaningful educational opportunities to the
community such as special lectures by guest speakers on
issues of public interest

8. CLASS STRUCTURE
 Each class is 3 credits each and offers a full-semester load of
coursework totaling 48 hours
 All courses are taught in English except for Korean language
 Classes are held Monday through Thursday and students can
take a maximum of 3 classes
 All classes have a limit of 50 students and if there are less
than 10 students enrolled in a class, that class may be
canceled
 Day trips are available during weekends to places such as the
DMZ, Folk Village, and Gyeong Bok Palace

9. GRADING
 Academic performance is graded on four factors:
exams, assignments, attendance, and class
participation.
 KU’s academic regulations state that students must
attend at least 70 percent of the class in order to
receive a passing grade, but different professors
may have their own attendance policy

10. STUDENT LIFE
 Visa and Alien Registration
It is the student’s responsibility to use the acceptance letter to
obtain the correct type of visa at the Korean Embassy or
Consulate Office. A 90 day student (C-3) visa is ideal.

CJ International House: built in 2005 with single/twin beds
and complete facilities such as a computer lab, fitness center,
cafeteria, and laundry room
Frontier House: newest dormitory with fully furnished rooms
and double beds

13. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
 In order to be eligible, students must have completed
at least one semester in a college or university
 All students will need to submit their academic
transcript
 International students must also send a copy of their
passport page that shows the photo, name, and
passport number
 International students must provide proof of health
insurance that is VALID during the period of the ISC
program

14. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1) Complete the application online and receive an 8 digit
application number
2) Pay the non-refundable application fee of 100,000 KRW
3) Mail an official academic transcript to the ISC office and wait
for an email from the ISC office with a letter of acceptance
4) Send a copy of your passport to the ISC office via mail, fax, or
email
5) Pay the tuition, housing, and any other applicable fees
6) Send proof of health insurance via email, fax, or in person
7) Come to Korea University to enjoy your summer experience
