The cheetah is the fastest land animal and can run up to 120 km/hr, but can only sustain this speed for around 300 meters before overheating. Female cheetahs give birth to litters of 3-6 cubs, who stay with their mother for 18 months before being sent off on their own. Cheetahs have distinctive black markings around their eyes for protection from the sun and camouflage while hunting.
