Introduction
 The challenges before Indian Agriculture are immense. This sector
needs to grow at a faster rate than in the past to allow for higher per
capita income and consumption.
 The limitation in Transfer of Technology (TOT) model continues to
remain a challenge for the public and private extension systems.

History of Farmers Call Centre in India
First and foremost in the history of the Indian agriculture “farmer
call centre” was started in the Andhra Pradesh on July 1st, 2003 .
Govt. of Andhra Pradesh launched Parishkaram call centre with
agriculture service as its pilot project with experienced scientists of
N.G. Ranga Agricultural University ,Hyderabad.
Central Govt., ICAR and foreign countries Officials have visited
farm call centre to know about its functioning and praised for the
services rendered by scientists to the farmers.
Then Govt. of India converted farmer call center in to Kisan Call
Centre in different states for the benefit of farming community.

financial support of Mandi Parishad.
Its working hours is 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. daily on every working day of the
university.

The above helpline services are other than KCC services.

 This KCC is working round the week. Farmers in the state can make calls to KCC
experts at toll free number i.e. “1800-233-4433” for their farm-specific queries and
responded live by agriculture experts.
 A Kisan Call Center is run by ISAP under the aegis of the M.P. government in Bhopal.
 The above helpline services are other than KCC services.

Agri. Portal is a platform hosting a collection of relevant
websites. It is an important and fast information dissemination
channel. Agri. Portal is an effort in this direction to create one stop
shop for meeting all informational needs relating to Agriculture,
Animal Husbandry and Fisheries sectors production, sale/storage
of an Indian farmer. With this Indian Farmer will not be required
to sift through maze of websites created for specific purposes. e.g.
mKisan, Farmer portal etc.

local context should be taken into consideration.
