King Lear decides to divide his kingdom among her three daughters by the
affect that they show to him. After feeling betrayed by her youngest daughter,
Cordelia, he decides to divide it between her oldest daughters and disown
her, with terrible consequences.
King Lear. Goneril, Cordelia
and Regan.
Duke of
Cornwall.
Duke of Albany.
Earl of Kent.
Earl of
Gloucester.
Edgar. Edmund.
Oswald (with King
Lear). Fool.
Lear is an important and
powerful man who
thinks that it is possible
to enjoy the power of
still being king without
any of the
responsability.
Cordelia is the favorite
daughter of King Lear,
until she refuses to
flatter his father and
gets booted out of the
kingdom.
Goneril and Regan
are the oldest and
wicked daughters of
King Lear. Both
betray her father
after he gave them
their half of his
lands.
Cornwall is the
husband of Regan.
Represents the
abuse of power at
its worst, and he
enjoys causing
pain to others.
Albany is the husband
of Goneril. Unlike her
wife, he is a gentle,
kind man. At first he
lacks the strenght to
stand up with his
wife, but he cannot
control her.
Kent is the
servant of Lear,
who is also
banished from his
kingdom after he
warned the king
to not disown
Cordelia.
Gloucester is
one of the old
guards of Lear.
His blinding
makes literal
his blindness
towards Edgar
and Edmund.
Edgar is the rich
and clueless son
of Gloucester. He
gets manipulated
by Edmund and
he gets falsely
accused of
plotting to kill his
father.
Edmund is the
illegitimate brother
of Edgar. Due to
having been born out
of wedlock, he acts
like a jerk to his
father and brother.
Oswald is the
servant of Goneril.
He does whatever
Goneril wants him
to do, immoral or
not.
The Fool is the
stand-up comedian
of Lear. He
entertains him, but
also makes Lear
seeing the stupity of
his acts.
