ABRAHAM OFFERS ISSAC
OBEDIENCE WILL RECEIVE GODS GRACE
GENESIS 22: 1-18
LETS PRAY
ABRAHAM
• Abraham lived 4000 years ago
• Was promised a son that would become a ‘great nation’,
• Had to wait until he was very old to see his son born
• Jews and Arabs today come from Abraham, so we know
the promise came true
• God tested Abraham. He asked him to do something
that was very difficult
• Does anyone know how God tested him?
GOD TEST ABRAHAM
God said, “Take your son, your
only son Isaac, whom you love,
and go to the land of Moriah, and
offer him there as a burnt
offering on one of the mountains
of which I shall tell you.”
Abraham was ready and
listening to God.
He said, “Here I am.”
GOD
ABRAHAM OBEYS GOD
•Abraham rose early in the
morning,
•saddled his donkey, and took
•two of his young men with him,
•his son Isaac.
•cut the wood for the burnt
offering
•arose and went to the place of
which God had told him
ABRAHAM AND ISSAC GOES FOR OFEERING
• Third day Abraham lifted up his eyes
and saw the place from afar.
• Then Abraham said to his young men,
“Stay here with the donkey; I and the
boy will go over there and worship
and come again to you.”
• And Abraham took the wood of the
burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his
son. And he took in his hand the fire
and the knife. So they went both of
them together.
ISSAC QUESTION AND ABRAHAM’S FAITH
Isaac said, “My father!” And he
said, “Here I am, my son.” He
said, “Behold, the fire and the
wood, but where is the lamb for
a burnt offering?”
Abraham said, “God
will provide for
himself the lamb for
a burnt offering, my
son”
GOD OUR PROVIDER
“Do not lay your hand on the boy or do
anything to him, for now I know that you
fear God, seeing you have not withheld
your son, your only son, from me.”
• Came to the place, built the altar there
and laid the wood in order and bound
Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on
top of the wood.
• Abraham reached out his hand and took
the knife to slaughter his son.
GOD PROVIDER
• Abraham lifted up his
eyes and looked,
•behind him was a ram,
caught in a thicket by his
horns.
•offered it up as a burnt
offering instead of his son
THE LORD WILL PROVIDE
• Abraham called the name of that place,
•The LORD will provide
• On the mount of the LORD it shall be
provided”
BLESSING
I will surely bless
you, and I will surely
multiply your
offspring as the stars
of heaven and as the
sand that is on the
seashore.
MORIAH • In 2000 BC God tested Abraham in
this mountain.
• One thousand years later (1000 BC)
King David built the city
of Jerusalem there
• Then Solomon began to build the
First Jewish temple of the LORD in
Jerusalem on Mount Moriah… (2
Chronicles 3:1)
• Mount Moriah became Jerusalem,
the Jewish city with the Jewish
Temple.
• Today it is a holy place for the
Jewish people, and Jerusalem is
the capital city of Israel.
DIVINE PLAN
Isaac was to be
sacrificed on Mt.
Moriah. Jesus was
crucified on
Golgotha, a
portion of Mt.
Moriah.
MEMORY VERSE : HEBREWS 1:6
And again, when
he brings the
firstborn into the
world, he says,
“Let all God's
angels worship
him.”
