KINETIC ENERGY
KINETIC ENERGY
- The energy of moving object is called energy of motion or
kinetic energy(KE). The word kinetic comes from the Greek
word kinetic which means moving. Kinetic energy quantifies
the amount of work the object can do because of its motion.
Where:
- KE represents the kinetic energy in joules( J ).
- m is the mass of the object in kilograms (kg).
- v is the velocity (speed) of the object in meters
per second (m/s).
HOW DOES
KINETIC ENERGY
HAPPENS?
• Kinetic energy happen after work has been
done, energy has been transferred to the object,
and the object will be moving with a new
constant speed.
• Anything that moves has kinetic energy.
Ex: If you have a ball that is moving at 5m/s, it has
kinetic energy.
If you have o block that’s at rest its just sitting on a
ground do nothing it has no kinetic energy.
-Anything with mass and speed has kinetic energy.
LETS TRY:
• A traveling car with a mass of 1.600 kg and has a
speed of 12.5 m/s. What will be the kinetic energy
(KE) of the car?
