1) The scene begins with an aerial shot of Will sleeping alone in his bed under a space animal blanket, establishing it is morning.
2) Will wakes up with a gasp to find Jeff Pickles already in his room, surprising both Will and the audience.
3) A series of shots position Jeff higher than Will, representing Jeff's dominance over his more submissive son as they discuss Will's displeasure over the gift he received from Jeff.

At the beginning of the scene we see an Ariel/birds-eye-view shot of Will in
his bed, this establishes the scene as the audience are aware he’s sleeping,
alone. It also allows us to know that Will isn’t an average child, this is due to
the fact that his sleeping blanket is of a space animal, which isn’t seen
typically.
This shot is also important as we know its morning because of the lighting
shown in the bedroom which is bright and illuminates the room, without the
use of artificial light – the next shot is from outside the room which slightly
tracks inwards as Will begins to wake up, allowing the audience to question
what’s about to happen next and or who’s perspective it is looking at him, if
anyone is. Not long after, Will looks upwards and lets out a gasp, following
this we see Jeff Pickles in a mid-shot from the perspective of the son. These
two shots are effective as they allow the audience to feel as if they’re inside
the show, as each shot is shown in the perspective of a character. It also
comes as a surprise to the audience and for Will because Jeff was already in
Will’s room waiting for him to wake up, which in itself is an odd thing to do.
As the scene continues we see both characters in a two shot, Jeff’s character
is positioned higher whereas Will is positioned lower – signifying the father
like dominance he has over his more submissive son. The following shot cuts
to a mid-shot of Jeff in which he is slightly off-center, this could be a
metaphor for an underpinning narrative or coincidental. The following shot is
positioned lower and is a mid-chest-shot of Will talking up towards his dad,
this again represents Will’s smallness against his dads ‘power’, due to the fact
that Will isn’t pleased with the gift he got from Jeff, and would rather have
cash as a present. These two shots repeat after each other until the scene is
over.
