Every day there are new articles written on why X strategy is dead, why Y strategy will you get penalized, and why you should only be concerned with Z strategy moving forward. One could get lost in the endless amount of information being written on these topics.

How you structure and label the pages of a website has a material effect on SEO. Chris Warden has put together the best practices for how to properly label and structure you site
The document discusses the importance of carefully selecting keywords for search engine optimization. It recommends gathering keywords from potential customers to find phrases you may not have considered. Keywords should be evaluated based on popularity, specificity, and how well they motivate consumers ready to purchase. Ongoing testing and analysis of keywords is needed to optimize profits from search engine traffic.
Your keywords serve as the foundation of your marketing strategy. Choosing keywords requires evaluating popularity, specificity, and motivation. Popularity alone doesn't make an effective keyword - you want keywords that bring motivated customers ready to buy. Ongoing analysis of keyword performance is needed to optimize profits from search engine traffic.
Keywords are an important part of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) internet marketing. This is a presentation that I gave at a local community college in Michigan.
The document discusses selecting effective keywords for search engine marketing. It recommends gathering keyword ideas from potential customers rather than just using your own ideas. Keywords should be evaluated based on popularity, specificity, and how motivated potential customers are to find information on that topic. Proper keyword selection is important for getting the right customers to your site and improving your search engine performance and profits over time. Regular evaluation of keywords is needed to ensure you continue attracting qualified potential buyers.
The document discusses ways to continue optimizing keywords after initial keyword research, including:
1) Analyzing site analytics like bounce rates to identify underperforming pages and keywords
2) Conducting competitive analysis of top competitors to find new keyword opportunities
3) Performing heuristic evaluations like talking to experts to gain insights beyond data
Selecting the right keywords is essential to a successful marketing strategy. Keywords should be specific enough to attract interested customers but not too general to be ineffective. It is important to get keyword ideas directly from potential customers rather than just using your own assumptions. When evaluating keywords, factors like popularity, specificity, and how they relate to customer motivation should be considered. Ongoing testing and analysis of keywords is needed to optimize performance.
The document provides an overview of search engine optimization (SEO) strategies for improving a website's visibility in search engines like Google and Yahoo. It discusses selecting targeted keywords, optimizing titles, descriptions and content with those keywords, and improving link popularity through obtaining incoming links from other relevant sites. The key steps outlined are choosing keywords, tweaking site code and content, submitting the site to directories, obtaining reciprocal links from other sites, and implementing changes which may take 3-6 months to see results.

Search Engine Marketing - Competitor and Keyword researchETMARK ACADEMY
Over 2 Trillion searches are made per day in Google search, which means there are more than 2 Trillion visits happening across the websites of the world wide web.
People search various questions, phrases or words. But some words and phrases are searched
more often than others.
For example, the words, ‘running shoes’ are searched more often than ‘best road running
shoes for men’
These words or phrases which people use to search on Google are called Keywords.
Some keywords are searched more often than others. Number of times a keyword is searched
for in a month is called keyword volume.
Some keywords have more relevant results than others. For the phrase “running shoes” we
get more than 80M relevant results, whereas for “best road running shoes for men” we get
only 8.
The former keyword ‘running shoes’ has way more competition from popular websites to
new and small blogs, whereas the latter keyword doesn’t have that much competition. This
search competition for a keyword is called search difficulty of a keyword or keyword
difficulty.
In other words, if the keyword difficulty is ‘low’ or ‘easy’, there won’t be any competition
and if you target such keywords on your site, you can easily rank on the front page of Google.
Some keywords are searched for, just to know or to learn some information about something,
that’s their search intention. For example, “What shoe size should I choose?” or “How to pick
the right shoe size?”
These keywords which are searched just to know about stuff are called informational
keywords. Typically people who are searching this type of keywords are top of a Conversion
funnel.
Conversion funnel is the journey that search visitors go through on their way to an email
subscription or a premium subscription to the services you offer or a purchase of products
you sell or recommend using your referral link.
For some buyers, research is the most important part when they have to buy a product.
Depending on that, their journey either widens or narrows down. These types of buyers are
Researchers and they spend more time with informational keywords.
Conversion is the action you want from your search visitors. Number of conversions that you
get for every 100 search visitors is called Conversion rate.
People who are at different stages of a conversion funnel use different types of keywords.
SEO keywords, also known as keywords or keyphrases, are terms added to online content to improve search engine rankings for those terms. There are different types of SEO keywords that can be used, including short-tail keywords which are 1-2 words, long-tail keywords which are 5-8 words and more specific, and focus keywords which are the main keyword a page aims to rank for. Properly researching and selecting the right keywords is important for SEO success.
The document provides information on organic keyword research and mapping. It discusses defining keyword research, the keyword research process and tools, and keyword strategy mapping. It outlines a 5 step keyword research process: 1) conducting keyword research using various free tools, 2) checking the client and competitor websites, 3) identifying the website structure, 4) deciding on singular or plural keywords and generic keywords, and 5) keyword mapping and identifying content gaps. The document emphasizes that keyword research and mapping is essential for an effective SEO strategy.
This document discusses keyword research and provides guidance on conducting effective keyword research. It defines keywords and search queries, and different types of queries like navigational, transactional, and informational. It also covers understanding the target market, niche markets, keyword demand, and the importance of choosing the right keywords. Tools for keyword research are presented, along with how to evaluate keywords based on search volume, competition, and other metrics. Guidance is provided on integrating keywords into content and optimizing pages for specific keywords.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Understanding Keywords
1.
2. Keywords: The Basics
Keywords are the foundation to the
majority of your SEO efforts. Keywords
are phrases or words that users type in
to the search bar of a search engine. It’s
important to target keywords that will
not only bring you the most traffic but
also the correct kind of traffic.
Let’s looks at how different types of keywords
can predict a user’s desired action.
3. Types of Keywords
Transactional Keywords: Phrases
used when a user is looking to take
action, typically making a purchase.
Ex: “Kanye West concert tickets”
Ex: “Quote for car insurance”
4. Types of Keywords
Informational Keywords: Phrases used
when a user is looking for information
to educate themselves on a future
decision.
Ex: “best SEO companies in San Diego”
Ex: “Top movies of 2012”
5. Types of Keywords
Navigational Keywords: Phrases used
when a user wants to be directed to
a particular website.
Ex: “ESPN”
Ex: “Mark Cuban’s blog”
7. Researching Keywords
Analyzing Your Company: What phrases do you believe
your target market would use when they are trying to
find you? Use Google Analytics to identify what
keywords your current traffic is using.
Analyzing Traffic: Use Google’s Keyword Tool to identify
what keywords in your industry have the most search
volume.
Analyzing Your Competition: Use SEMRush to identify
what keywords your competition is targeting for their
traffic. Is there a keyword that accounts for a good
portion of your competition’s traffic that you haven’t
thought of?
