South Brisbane has experienced significant changes over time, starting as home to the Jagera people before European settlement and growing into an industrial area with factories and warehouses, though now has fewer industrial sites. It has become a popular recreational destination with South Bank parkland and entertainment venues, and is also home to several universities and schools. South Brisbane has a population mostly made up of young adults and is considered culturally diverse, located conveniently near transport with a mix of land uses including industrial, recreational, and institutional.
