The Kamburu Story in pictures - Ecological farming practices in AfricaThe Gaia Foundation
The Kamburu community in central Kenya used to rely on tea for income, but prices dropped, making it difficult for families to afford necessities. With help from local organizations, the community revived traditional farming methods like rainwater harvesting and composting. They relearned how to grow indigenous crops organically without chemicals. This improved health, made the soil and crops more resilient to drought, and allowed community members to be food secure with surplus to sell. Now the community is sharing their knowledge with neighbors to build self-sufficiency and climate resilience.
The document discusses issues around access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene. Some key points:
- One in ten people globally lack access to safe water, and 2,000 children die daily from water-related diseases. Many developing nations use far less water per day than Americans.
- Over 2.5 billion people lack access to a toilet, and poor sanitation deprives women of privacy and safety. Diarrhea is a major killer of children under five worldwide.
- Proper hygiene like handwashing can significantly reduce disease incidence. Combined water, sanitation and hygiene interventions can reduce diarrhea deaths by 65% on average.

This document proposes an intervention to address acute malnutrition in the Oromia region of Ethiopia through a "green revolution" empowering women. It involves establishing community education centers to teach sustainable agricultural techniques using indigenous plants like Ethiopian kale. Women would be trained in leaf protein extraction to produce an immediate nutritional supplement from kale leaves. The plan budgets for equipment, labor, teachers, community gardens and partnerships to train local women and address the root causes of malnutrition through education and agricultural self-sufficiency. The long term goal is to expand this model to other communities and pursue evaluations and partnerships with local universities.
Our Model moves people from a cycle of poverty into a sustainable cycle of success. We strive for holistic transformation. Our Vision is a world in which all people have the opportunity to provide for their families and build a fulfilling life.

It has a vision of providing safe water and sanitation for all. Water.org understands the global water crisis, which impacts 783 million people without access to safe water, and works to solve it by empowering communities to develop their own water projects. Current projects in countries like India, Haiti, and Ethiopia are helping to reduce waterborne illnesses and deaths from lack of access to clean water.
Over 103,000 college students who are eligible for free school meals are missing out on them each year at a cost of over £38 million pounds. While there are three times as many college students eligible for free meals compared to sixth form students, only the sixth form students receive them. Several MPs support extending free meal provision to college students as well, arguing that denying free meals to disadvantaged students hurts social mobility and is unfair.

AGROFRUIT MISION
To become a world-class family agribusiness in the region, and contribute to the sustainable development of the country and the region.
Food is essential for survival but many around the world do not have reliable access to enough nutritious food. Hunger exists in degrees from acute to chronic to hidden and is caused by factors like drought, poverty, and unequal access to resources. Around 925 million people do not have enough to eat, with 65% living in just seven highly populated countries. Tree planting is proposed as a solution to prevent further loss of arable land and help increase future food production, though it will take time. Achieving global food security and nutrition will require sustainable and equitable food systems.

1) India faces many challenges related to access to clean drinking water and sanitation. Over 894 million people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water and over 1.1 billion people have no access to any improved drinking water source.
2) Poor sanitation and lack of access to clean water have significant negative health impacts, especially for children, including being the leading cause of disease worldwide and causing over 1.6 million deaths per year from diarrheal diseases.
3) While progress has been made in expanding access to sanitation and clean water in India, with nearly 68% of the rural population now having access, many issues around water quality, availability, and sustainable access to sanitation remain.
Jewish Heart for Africa is a nonprofit that brings solar technologies to African villages to power schools, clinics, and water pumping systems in Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania. They have funded 17 projects helping over 18,600 people. Installing solar water pumping systems for villages provides clean water and frees up time previously spent fetching water, improving health, education, agriculture and quality of life. The cost to install a system is $15,000-$18,000 and it can pump over 20,000 liters of water per day.
1) More than half of Africans lack access to safe drinking water, and women often walk long distances such as 3.75 miles on average to collect water. This takes up a large portion of their daily energy and has negative health impacts.
2) Africa faces a severe water crisis with low access to drinking water and sanitation. This is exacerbated by rapid population growth and effects poverty. Community-based projects emphasizing local participation and ownership have had some success in increasing access.
3) Solutions implemented include wells, sand dams, rainwater harvesting, and solar disinfection. NGOs play a large role, but sustainability is a challenge without community involvement in maintenance. Overall access remains low and expanding access
Save the Children is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1919 in the United Kingdom that aims to help children living in poverty globally. It provides lifesaving supplies and emotional support for children and campaigns for long-term change to improve children's lives through improving access to food, healthcare, and education. The organization works in poor countries to help families out of poverty by helping them feed and support their children. Poverty is defined as living on less than $1.25 per day and impacts over 1.2 billion people globally due to a lack of basic needs, while absolute poverty refers to a severe lack of resources needed to survive.
This document proposes an intervention to address acute malnutrition in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. It involves establishing community education centers to teach sustainable agricultural techniques to women, using indigenous leafy greens like kale. Women will be trained in extracting nutrients from leaves to produce supplements to treat malnutrition. The plan aims to empower women through education and skills training, make communities self-sufficient through modern agriculture, and improve health and productivity long-term with a relatively small budget. It partners with local organizations and pursues long-term evaluation and expansion of the model.

Carrer goals.pptx and their importance in real lifeartemacademy2
Career goals serve as a roadmap for individuals, guiding them toward achieving long-term professional aspirations and personal fulfillment. Establishing clear career goals enables professionals to focus their efforts on developing specific skills, gaining relevant experience, and making strategic decisions that align with their desired career trajectory. By setting both short-term and long-term objectives, individuals can systematically track their progress, make necessary adjustments, and stay motivated. Short-term goals often include acquiring new qualifications, mastering particular competencies, or securing a specific role, while long-term goals might encompass reaching executive positions, becoming industry experts, or launching entrepreneurial ventures.
Moreover, having well-defined career goals fosters a sense of purpose and direction, enhancing job satisfaction and overall productivity. It encourages continuous learning and adaptation, as professionals remain attuned to industry trends and evolving job market demands. Career goals also facilitate better time management and resource allocation, as individuals prioritize tasks and opportunities that advance their professional growth. In addition, articulating career goals can aid in networking and mentorship, as it allows individuals to communicate their aspirations clearly to potential mentors, colleagues, and employers, thereby opening doors to valuable guidance and support. Ultimately, career goals are integral to personal and professional development, driving individuals toward sustained success and fulfillment in their chosen fields.

Suzanne Lagerweij - Influence Without Power - Why Empathy is Your Best Friend...Suzanne Lagerweij
This is a workshop about communication and collaboration. We will experience how we can analyze the reasons for resistance to change (exercise 1) and practice how to improve our conversation style and be more in control and effective in the way we communicate (exercise 2).
This session will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
Abstract:
Let’s talk about powerful conversations! We all know how to lead a constructive conversation, right? Then why is it so difficult to have those conversations with people at work, especially those in powerful positions that show resistance to change?
Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power. We will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
In the session you will experience how preparing and reflecting on your conversation can help you be more influential at work. You will learn how to communicate more effectively with the people needed to achieve positive change. You will leave with a self-revised version of a difficult conversation and a practical model to use when you get back to work.
Come learn more on how to become a real influencer!
