The "traveling attendance award" recognizing the school with the highest percentage of stu-
dents attending 90% or more of the time was presented to Northview Elementary School
(82.9%). The district-wide average was 77.4%.
Thanks to a grant fromthe Department of Elementary and Secondary EducationPathwaysfor
Teachers and the National Academy Foundation forCurriculum and Corporate Partner- ships,
teachers from Jennings Junior and Senior High School participated in a day of profes- sional
development at the Master-
Card facility. Through table talks
and a tour of the facility, teachers
were provided insight into the new
and advanced ways STEM skills are
used in fields such as computer
science and cyber security. Mas-
terCard has also agreed to launch
the “Girls4Tech” program in Jen-
nings. The program will be availa-
ble to 6th grade female students
who will learn about algorithms,
cryptology, and digital convergence.

Fairview Elementary School fifth-grade student, Jermel Gris-
son, was honored by the Board of Educationforbeing the 2017
winner of the North County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay
contest. Jermel came in first place for his age group in North
County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony and Justice
(NNCU).Jermel willreceivea scholarship fromNNCU on March
1st that Dr. McCoy has agreed to match.
The Missouri School Boards Association (MSBA) video report for the month of February
2017 featured a story on School Based Health Clinics and how effective they are. Superin-
tendent of Schools,Dr.Art McCoy,washighlighted during the report sharing the im- portance
of schools meeting students where they are, especially in maintaining good health. “Helping
students to stay healthy is a great source for overall student achievement” said Dr. McCoy.

JETS students, Deja Alexander, Janet Cooksey, Jamya Morgan and Darrion Gardner debuted
their WE Schools presentation “Click It, Before You Kick It”. The group has been asked to
share the same presentation at WE Day on March 1st in Rosemont, IL. This is an invitation
only event withmore than 50,000 attendants from across the country.WE Schoolsdonat- ed
$7,000.00 that will allow a total of 66 students and 10 staff members to make the trip. Good

Mr. James McKay, Jennings Junior High music teacher and the Jennings Junior High strings
students have been selected to perform at the St. Louis Symphony. The Junior High strings
students will be in concert at the St. Louis Symphony/Powell Hall on Friday, April 28th.
Please join us in celebrating Mr. McKay and the JJH Orchestra as they make history for be-
ing the first strings program in the district to performat the St. Louis PowellSymphony Hall.
Congratulations to Coach Pachino
Davis, Coach Timothy Savage and the
Jennings Junior High eighth-grade
boys basketball team. The JJH boys
basketball team finished the season
undefeated with a record of 9-0.
Coach Davis said that great team
spirit and hard work was the driving
force behind the strong season. The
JJH team members each maintained a
3.0 GPA during the season. Great job
Junior Warriors!

The district-wide average was 77.4%. Thanks to a grant fromthe Department of Elementary and Secondary EducationPathwaysfor Teachers and the National Academy Foundation forCurriculum and Corporate Partner- ships, teachers from Jennings Junior and Senior High School participated in a day of profes- sional development at the Master- Card facility. Through table talks and a tour of the facility, teachers were provided insight into the new and advanced ways STEM skills are used in fields such as computer science and cyber security. Mas- terCard has also agreed to launch the “Girls4Tech” program in Jen- nings. The program will be availa- ble to 6th grade female students who will learn about algorithms, cryptology, and digital convergence.

Jermel came in first place for his age group in North County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony and Justice (NNCU).Jermel willreceivea scholarship fromNNCU on March 1st that Dr. McCoy has agreed to match. The Missouri School Boards Association (MSBA) video report for the month of February 2017 featured a story on School Based Health Clinics and how effective they are. Superin- tendent of Schools,Dr.Art McCoy,washighlighted during the report sharing the im- portance of schools meeting students where they are, especially in maintaining good health. “Helping students to stay healthy is a great source for overall student achievement” said Dr. McCoy. The group has been asked to share the same presentation at WE Day on March 1st in Rosemont, IL. This is an invitation only event withmore than 50,000 attendants from across the country.WE Schoolsdonat- ed $7,000.00 that will allow a total of 66 students and 10 staff members to make the trip. The Junior High strings students will be in concert at the St. Louis Symphony/Powell Hall on Friday, April 28th. Please join us in celebrating Mr. McKay and the JJH Orchestra as they make history for be- ing the first strings program in the district to performat the St. Louis PowellSymphony Hall. Congratulations to Coach Pachino Davis, Coach Timothy Savage and the Jennings Junior High eighth-grade boys basketball team. The JJH boys basketball team finished the season undefeated with a record of 9-0. Coach Davis said that great team spirit and hard work was the driving force behind the strong season. The JJH team members each maintained a 3.0 GPA during the season. Great job Junior Warriors!
