Katie Taylor was born in 1986 in Bray, Ireland. She played Gaelic football and soccer as a child but took up boxing lessons from her father. At age 11, her father became her boxing coach and she went on to play soccer for the Irish U17 and U19 national teams. Taylor has won 18 medals in her boxing career and currently holds the WBA women's title. She is admired for her hard work and success in becoming a brilliant boxer and inspirational Irish athlete competing internationally in two sports.
