1. Introduction:
To make Swachh Uttar Pardesh Bhadhoi district administration & all line department have done
remarkable jobs in achieving 100 % Coverage of rural households as per baseline ( 12 December,
MoDWS, 18 ).
After attaining the noticeable progress under Swachh Bharat Mission- Gramin towards ODF, the focus
is gradually shifting towards ODF sustainability because the challenges at the moment are sustaining
the ODF status.
Plan India in partnership with UNICEF, Uttar Pradesh is providing support to bhadhoi district & division
administration for accelerating the achievement of SBM (G) through CAS approach, including Planning,
SBCC, supportive supervision & sustainability through ODF+ activities {including Quality hygiene &
Safe Sanitation services, Safe Drinking Water, WASH in Institutions – School, Anganwadi & Health Care
Facility (HCF)}.
2. ODF Sustainability Means
- Maintaining the ODF status of the villages, Gram Panchayats, Blocks and Districts over a
continued period of time
- Ensure continuous usage of toilet and practice of safe and hygienic behaviours by the community
- Continued functionality of the assets created under SBM ( Swachh Bharat Mission)
- Decentralized operation and maintenance arrangement of assets
And the major key issues in context of ODF sustainability was
• Continued usages of toilets by all
• Lack of toilet /Inappropriate technology
• Operation & maintenance
• Persistent Community engagement
• Availability of water for the use of toilet
• Focus on other hygienic behaviour
3. Solutions
To achieve this the District administration has used a very innovative approach i.e. ODF Clinic to
Sustain the ODF status in Bhadhoi .
ODFClinic i.e.acounselling campto maintaintheODFsustainability&environmental sanitationontoilet
technology,quality&social &behaviorchangecommunication onregular basis.

Liasioning , Advocay & Capacity Building with Administration:
-Selection of Villages / GP / Block for Implementation
- Launch the ODF Clinic on District Level by DM & CDO
-Orientation of District Level , Block Level Officer On ODF Clinic
-Facilittae the Roaster Block Wise & Panchyatwise
Implementation :
- Handholding Support to Govt officials in its Preparation & implemtaion
on Grassroots
- Coomunity mobilization & participation of all sectors
-Provide Solution & linkages from others stakeholders
Monitoring & Evaluation:
-Data Collection on the Precribed Format
-Data Analysis after 15 Days
-Reviewed by District Magistrate & CDO
