A lesson plan: is a teacher's plan for
teaching a lesson. It can exist in the
teacher's mind, on the back of an
envelope, or on one or more beautifully
formatted sheets of A4 paper. Its purpose
is to outline the "programme" for a single
lesson. That's why it's called a lesson plan.
It helps the teacher in both planning and
executing the lesson.

includes the goal (what the students
are supposed to learn), how the goal
will be reached (the method,
procedure) and a way of measuring
how well the goal was reached (test,
worksheet, homework etc).

Lesson Plan Components:
1. Aim/Learning Goals:
At the beginning of every lesson write your lesson aim at the
top. I should be incredibly simple. For example ‘Students will
be able to identify different junk food’
 Basically, it’s what your students can do after you are done
with them.
2. Objectives/learning outcomes:
 Learning outcomes are what students are expected to learn
after completing the lesson.
 Each learning outcome should be clearly reflected in the
activities.
 They should be assessed at the conclusion.
3. Activities:
Activities explain step by step what the teacher
and students will do during the lession/session.
They should be as specific as possible. Activities
must go reflecting the learning outcomes
4. Assessment:
A lesson plan is not complete without the final
step of Assessment. This is where you assess the
final outcome of the lesson.
 Most importantly, ensure that the assessment
activity is directly and explicitly tied to the stated
learning objectives.
Learning goals can be assessed through quizzes, tests,
independently performed worksheets, cooperative
learning activities, hands-on experiments, oral
discussion, question-and-answer sessions, or other
concrete means.

  • 5. A lesson plan: is a teacher's plan for teaching a lesson. It can exist in the teacher's mind, on the back of an envelope, or on one or more beautifully formatted sheets of A4 paper. Its purpose is to outline the "programme" for a single lesson. That's why it's called a lesson plan. It helps the teacher in both planning and executing the lesson.

  • 9. Lesson Plan Components: 1. Aim/Learning Goals: At the beginning of every lesson write your lesson aim at the top. I should be incredibly simple. For example ‘Students will be able to identify different junk food’  Basically, it’s what your students can do after you are done with them. 2. Objectives/learning outcomes:  Learning outcomes are what students are expected to learn after completing the lesson.  Each learning outcome should be clearly reflected in the activities.  They should be assessed at the conclusion.
  • 10. 3. Activities: Activities explain step by step what the teacher and students will do during the lession/session. They should be as specific as possible. Activities must go reflecting the learning outcomes
  • 11. 4. Assessment: A lesson plan is not complete without the final step of Assessment. This is where you assess the final outcome of the lesson.  Most importantly, ensure that the assessment activity is directly and explicitly tied to the stated learning objectives. Learning goals can be assessed through quizzes, tests, independently performed worksheets, cooperative learning activities, hands-on experiments, oral discussion, question-and-answer sessions, or other concrete means.
