The Government of India is aware of the strong and urgent need to make secondary education within easy reach, affordable and of good quality. There are certain measures that can be adopted to bring quality, equity and access for every child. Schools can be upgraded; their capacity to serve students expanded, creating new schools, and increasing GDP allocated to secondary schools are some of them. However, these require heavy investments in terms of infrastructure and finances. Adoption of ICT tools and an increased shift towards open distance and electronic education can improve quality and increase efficiency. Although there are various schemes in place, it is estimated that the demand for secondary education is going to increase sharply due to increased turnover of students from primary level (like the success obtained via Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan programme). Going virtual is one of the solutions. This concept paper looks into the aspect of increasing demand for access to education in the context of RMSA, meeting the educational needs by Open Schooling system, emerging trends in ICT use in education and proposes a framework for Virtual Open Schooling in India.
Competing with Co-ops: Providing Affordable International Opportunities for E...CIEE
We all want engineering, computer, and physical science students to study abroad, but there is stiff competition for their attention and time. These students are often well-paid for domestic internships and co-ops. How can we offer affordable, experiential international programs tailored to engineers’ needs? We'll explore this issue from the perspective of university study abroad and career services offices, and exchange program administrators. Study abroad advisors, administrators, and providers are invited to participate and develop an action plan to address these issues for their own students and organizations.

Education is the yardstick for every country’s political and socio-economic development; which acts as a basis of reducing poverty and inequality by enabling the use of new technologies, creating and spreading knowledge. Despite the large inflows of donor financing and the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Education and Sports; the sector for the last 29 years is still grappling to balance the increasing access with quality education in secondary schools. Therefore, the main objective of this article is to explore the new strategies the Ministry of Education and Sports can employ to increase access while improving the quality education in the country. The article is based on literature review and the author’s experience in education. The article examines the advantages of open schooling and reveals that the programme provides the fast-track options for retaining students; bringing dropouts and over-aged learners to school; reducing administrative costs and enabling young people to be effective in life. Furthermore, the researcher discusses the likely challenges of the programme and gives practical working solutions aimed at overcoming the challenges of implementing the programme in Uganda.

The University of Indianapolis educational leadership program is a nationally accredited principal preparation program that merges theory and practice in all areas of school leadership. Students gain a deep understanding of schooling issues through interactive class dialogue and use that knowledge to design projects around evidence-based solutions. Students apply those strategies in field experiences as they learn to carry out the day-to-day responsibilities that characterize 21st century schools.

A collaborative approach to integrating academic and information literacy int...Neda Zdravkovic
This case study describes how an informal multi-professional collaboration emerged and, because of its shared expertise and openness effectively achieved academic and information literacy (AIL) integration into the academic curricula to produce successful outcomes for teaching and learning. Firstly, we present insights on how we broadened specialized individual work to include innovation and responsibility for departmental and curriculum needs. Secondly we explain how, within a hierarchical setting, synergies in shared expertise among team members helped to developed methodologies applied to deepen our understandings of what Media Film and Television (MFT) undergraduate students learning needs actually are. Lastly we will address insights into our own working practices, collaborative development and responses to contingencies.
A presentation delivered by Courtney Hermann at the 2012 University Film and Video Association meeting.
From 2008-2012, Courtney Hermann and her Documentary Production students participated in the International Documentary Challenge, a timed filmmaking competition where teams from across the world are given a documentary subgenre and a theme, and must create a 4-7 minute film from start to finish in just 5 days.
Courtney and her students have produced 10 films in all--4 were selected as contest finalists and premiered at the Hot Docs International Film Festival in Toronto. One film garnered additional commendations as the winner of the POV/American Documentary award. Three were selected for inclusion in the "Best of Doc Challenge" DVD, distributed by Typecast Releasing and KDHX Community Media.
This Power Point document, created for a workshop Courtney was invited to present at the University Film and Video Association meeting in 2012, uses experiences with the International Documentary Chalenge as case studies to address how instructors might manufacture a scenario where there’s enough at stake to motivate students to commit themselves to the cause of a collaborative project, and in the process open up a wealth of opportunities to learn about filmmaking and about themselves as filmmakers.
Hulu Summer Film School was a promotion I put together on Hulu to teach users about film and filmmaking through the Hulu Movie library. The goal of the promotion was to draw viewers, increase subscriptions, and foster an appreciation and awareness towards film and filmmaking.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.
