This document discusses plans to create an outdoor classroom at Stittsville Public School (SPS). It began in 2015 when parent councils from other local schools shared their experiences with outdoor classrooms. A working group was formed which included teachers and parents. The proposed outdoor classroom would integrate nature into learning and improve students' moods and retention of materials. Parents strongly support the idea based on a survey. The project will be funded through a $10,000 commitment from the Parent Council and grant applications. A phased approach over two years includes initial features like pathways and seating, with additional items like storage added later. Teachers will provide input and receive resources to use the space. The working group invites further feedback and involvement.
Trinity Academy Halifax selected FrogPlay to support its mastery curriculum, where students study sections of the curriculum in blocks and must demonstrate mastery before progressing. Students spent 9,000 hours last year working on the system, with high engagement from both students and staff, especially in science and maths. The academy moved from I am Learning to FrogPlay/FrogLearn, allowing it to create learning resources directly linking content to activities. While there were initial issues adjusting to the new system, teachers and students are becoming more confident with support and other subject areas are now also using FrogPlay.
This document discusses effective ways for educators to create vibrant classroom websites that enhance student learning. It describes the presenter's experience creating a classroom website for his English and literacy courses. Initially, his basic website with course information was supplemental rather than enhancing learning. However, after rethinking its purpose, he created a site where the class conversation continues and students can access assistance and alternative learning materials, even participating during class time. The presenter advocates for websites that establish daily folders or weekly structures with clear objectives and expectations, communication methods, and areas for turning in assignments. He provides examples of successful collaborative assignments that enhanced learning through his revised approach to the classroom website.

This document summarizes a public meeting for an airport master plan. It provides an overview of the master planning process and topics to be covered in the plan such as forecasts, requirements, and alternatives analysis. It then reviews alternatives considered for reducing noise impacts, including a new runway, extending an existing runway, and off-airport measures. One alternative to widen and extend an existing runway was recommended to better disperse aircraft operations. Off-airport mitigation options like sound insulation and home acquisition were also recommended subject to further implementation planning and clarification of details.
The document summarizes discussions from the Truckee Tahoe Airport District Board meeting on October 17, 2013 regarding their airport master plan. It presents several alternatives for the airport's runway configuration to reduce noise impacts on surrounding communities, including extending or shifting an existing runway and adding an off-airport runway option. Graphics are used to illustrate how each alternative would change aircraft flight paths and noise levels. Board members provided initial opinions on retaining some alternatives for further analysis in the environmental review and public outreach process. Additional topics discussed included the master plan schedule, potential sites for new multi-use hangars, and comparing the airport's future vision from 1998 to current plans.
