Judas had a theft problem
Matt 6:24
He tries to use the poor for a reason to sale the oil.
So, he could steal it.
Jesus shuts him down, saying the poor we will
always have, but Jesus will not always be there.
Matt 26:14-15
What are you willing to give me?
3. The Bread
John 13:2 – The Devil already put [the thought] to
betray Jesus into Judas’ heart.
John 13:18-20 – The Scripture was fulfilled
Psalm 41- “He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his
heel against Me
John 13:21-30 – Peter gets John to ask who was
going to betray Him?
4. The Betrayal
Luke 22:47-52
Judas identifies Jesus for the chief priests, captains of the temple,
and elders
John says he knew where Jesus would be, since they went there often
(John 18:2)
Jesus calls out the chief priests for their cowardly and malicious way
of taking him
5. The Guilt
Judas was not the only disciple guilty of something that night
Peter denied Jesus - Luke 22:54-62
Matthew 27:1-9
Judas became extremely remorseful when saw that Jesus was
condemned.
He even admits to the elders that he sinned
He gave the money back
“Departed, and went and hanged himself”
2nd Corinthians 7:8-11
6. Judas’ Story
Would you betray Jesus?
Have you betrayed Jesus?
If Judas repented, would Jesus have
forgiven him?
What if Judas had waited 3 days?
