“Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and
Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see”(Matthew 12:22).
The Gospelsof Matthewand Luke describe amiracle inwhicha man whowas blindandmute was taken
to JesusandJesushealedhim.Asexplainedinthe bookof Matthew:
Then they broughthima demon-possessedmanwhowas blindand mute,and Jesus healedhim,so
that he couldboth talk andsee. All the peoplewere astonishedandsaid,"Couldthisbe the Son of
David?"(Matthew12:22-23).
The phrase "Son of David" was a way to refer to the Messiah who had been promised by the
prophets of the Old Testament. The Messiah was to be a descendant of King David who had
lived about a thousand years before Jesus. The Gospels of Matthew and Luke say that Jesus was
a descendant of King David, in addition to proclaiming that he is the promised Messiah.

“When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from
your infirmity” (Luke 13:12)
As explainedinthe Gospel of Luke,Jesus,while teachingata synagogue,miraculouslyhealsawoman
whohad beenunable tostandupright for18 years:
“Ona SabbathJesus was teachingin one ofthe synagogues,andawoman was there who had been
crippledby a spirit foreighteen years. She was bent over andcouldnot straightenup at all. When
Jesus sawher, he calledher forwardand saidto her, "Woman,youare set free from your infirmity."
Then he puthis handson her, andimmediatelyshe straightenedup and praisedGod”.(Luke 13:10-13).
