Research Assistant, Chemistry REU at USF May 2015 – May 2016
Undergrad researcher in Dr. Bill Baker’s natural products discovery and isolation lab, in the Center for
Drug Discovery and Innovation at the University of South Florida.
Aided in purification and identification of fungal secondary metabolites using High Performance Liquid
Chromatography, and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance.
Assisted my graduate mentor in her research project: Epigenetic Modification Based Fungal Metabolite
Profiling: A Screening Tool for Drug Discovery.
Treasurer, USF Chemistry Society Jan 2015 – December 2015
Demonstrated leadership, organization, and management skills as a mentor for underserved students,
grades K-12, through Science for Every Student, an event showcasing college and STEM careers.
Managed a $5000 budget towards fundraising, tutoring, recruitment, and general events. Allocated over
$1900 in student government funding towards educational member events and community outreach. Held
first societal lecture series for over 200 chemistry students, National Chemistry Week at MOSI and a
collaborative engineering expo reaching over 10,000 grade school students.
Volunteered at the Museum of Science and Industry for ACS National Chemistry Week with USF
Chemistry society, performed experiments, and explained the chemistry observed (2014-2015).
Counselor, Camp Boggy Creek Aug 2015
Medical camp for children with severe, to life-threatening illnesses. Volunteered during the
Rheumatic/Arthritis, Immunodeficiency, and Gastrointestinal illness session. Led campers to the clinic
for any daily medications, and to their daily activities. Ensured a fun, motivational, and memorable
experience for the children.
