Mrs. Siegert is the brainchild behind
the Lincoln Scholarships. Each year
the staff enjoys raising scholarship
funds through activities such as
“Service Auctions”, “Jeans for a
Week”, and “Silent Auction Baskets”.
Due to her hard work and diligent
effort, we have provided over 25
scholarships of $200 each to high
school seniors who were Lincoln
alumni.
3. “I”
is for
investment
During her tenure of 19 years at
Lincoln, Mrs. Siegert has invested
thousands of hours of her own time
to help make the library the
wonderful place that it is. This
investment has definitely paid off
as the library circulation has
increased from 15,000 to 56,606
materials checked out per year
since 1993.
4. “E”

e
Mrs. Siegert is a Bargain Hunter
Extraordinaire! She knows the
locations of all the Goodwill Stores
from Bemidji to Minneapolis. She
shops for books to add to Lincoln’s
library collection every chance she
gets.
Within the 2010-2011 school year
alone; 2,201 new books were added
to the Lincoln library.
5. “G”

Grants
The Queen of grant-writing has to
be Mrs. Siegert!
During her tenure, she has
secured grant funds totaling over
$353,000.
These funds have allowed the
students and staff at Lincoln
Elementary School to reap the
benefits of having additional
technology to support literacy.
6. “E”
is for
excellent and
exceptional
E is for excellent and exceptional.
Mrs. Siegert is the epitome of these
adjectives. She has worked
tirelessly to create a library that has
become the heart of our school. In
addition, she oversees all the
technology in the building! Thus,
she has become an expert in
troubleshooting, which keeps
everything (and everyone) running
smoothly.
7. “R”
is for rides
(as in limo)
A highlight for the children at Lincoln are
the annual limo rides. Children earn a
limo ride by becoming “Millionaires”.
This means they have read 1,000,000
words or more through the Accelerated
Reading program. Excitement and
anticipation grows throughout the year
as children strive to achieve this lofty
goal. Limo rides are provided courtesy
of Mrs. Siegert and over 1,100 children
have enjoyed receiving this recognition.
8. “T”
is for Trash
Mrs. Siegert knows how to turn
Trash into Cash!
She has implemented a very
successful BoxTops program at
Lincoln which has generated over
$15,765 for AV materials for the
library.
In addition, she has set up an ink
cartridge/toner recycling program
which has purchased digital
cameras for the classrooms.
9. Germaine Greer states:
“Libraries are reservoirs of strength,
grace and wit, reminders of order,
calm and continuity, lakes of mental
energy, neither warm nor cold, light
nor dark. The pleasure they give is
steady, reliable, deep and long-
lasting. In any library in the world, I
Thanks to Mrs. Siegert’s
am at home, unselfconscious, still
and absorbed.”
