In 2005, the author became a volunteer EMT in Taiwan and worked in emergency services for 6 years before realizing there were greater opportunities in Australia. He moved to Australia to pursue further education and training as a paramedic student. Over three years of study, he completed various clinical courses and placements around Australia, gaining experience working as a paramedic while still facing some language barriers. He presented his experiences at a paramedic conference and contributed online resources for colleagues back in Taiwan. Having now graduated with a degree in emergency health, the author looks toward a future of research, education, and development in emergency medical services.
