September 2011 till date.
University Hospital Sharjah is an initiative sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin
Mohammad Al Qassimi, member of the Supreme Council and the Ruler of Sharjah. The 325
bedded hospitals is one of the main pillars of the Sharjah Medical Excellence Cluster (SMEC)
linking education, training and research. The purpose-built hospital has dedicated Centers of
Excellence for several key specialties and super-specialties and brings together a
multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and health-care professionals able to address the
most complex and difficult medical problems.
The hospital has clinical services like Paediatric, Neonatology, pediatric surgery, Obstetrics &
gynecology , Medicine, Urology, Orthopedic surgery, Rheumatology, Infectious diseases,
Endocrinology, Cardiology, Cathlab, Gastroenterology, General surgery, Plastic surgery,
Vascular surgery, Dialysis unit etc..
The Pediatric department is 20 bedded with 17 beds Level 3 NICU with the latest ventilators
including High frequency Ventilators and also has Nitric Oxide therapy.
As a Sr. Specialist, I am responsible for initial assessment, stabilisation and management of all
Paediatric patients attending emergency department. This includes patients with non-serious
ailments that are managed on OPD basis in ER as well as children with Paediatric emergencies
like seizures, exacerbation of asthma, dehydration, shock, respiratory distress and failure,
febrile encephalopathy, paediatric trauma, poisoning, neonatal emergencies etc. Children
requiring PICU or in patient care are shifted there after initial stabilisation. I’m also directly
responsible for paediatric patients in ward and high dependency unit.
Academically I am also associated as a Clinical lecturer in College of Medicine, UOS and
actively involved in bedside as well as academic training of undergraduate students of College
of medicine, University of Sharjah, UAE.
I am presently the member of the teaching and training committee (CME) and organizing
various local and international conferences. I am actively involved in formulating the
guidelines and policies/procedures for the department of Paediatrics.
Research: Involved in research “Management of severe life threatening anaphylactic reactions
in school going children of Sharjah”.

PREVIOUS APPOINTMENTS:

 Fujairah hospital is a 300 bedded multispecialty referral hospital (District Hospital)
for the East coast of United Arab Emirates. The department of pediatrics has 32
beds in the general pediatric ward, 4 beds in pediatric intensive care unit (PICU)
with 4 ventilators and a 22 bed capacity neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with 8
neonatal ventilators.
 I was working as a Specialist Pediatrician covering both Pediatric as well as NICU. I
was single handily manage all the Pediatric and Neonatal emergencies. I used to
attend the Pediatric as well as new-born OPD clinics.
 Resident Pediatrician, Maternity and Children hospital, Al-Hasa, KSA, from Oct.
2003 until Aug. 2008.
 Maternity and children hospital is a tertiary care centre serving as referral hospital
for Al-Hasa region (Eastern Province) of Saudi Arabia, with Pediatrics, Neonatology
and Gynecology Departments.
 MCH has a capacity of 320 beds and an occupancy rate of over 100%.The maternity
unit has an average rate of 10,000 deliveries a year and the Neonatal intensive
care unit has a capacity of 90 beds.
 The pediatrics department has 70 beds with 21 bedded PICU with well-equipped
modern infrastructure facilities like ventilators and all supporting equipment’s and
lab facilities. It has all the sub-specialty units like Cardiology, Nephrology,
Neurology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Allergy & Immunology, Hematology &
Oncology, Genetics & Metabolic Medicine and Infectious Disease.
 I was one of the Organizer’s in the 2nd and 3rd Clinical Pediatrics Course held from
6-8th September, 2005, for Saudi Board, Arab Board and MRCPCH Candidates.
 Received an Appreciation Certificate in 2005 from the Director and the Medical
Director of Maternity and Children's, as the best pediatrics resident doctor.
