The Johari Window model is a tool for self-awareness, personal development, and understanding relationships. It represents information about a person from four perspectives: (1) open self known to self and others, (2) blind self known to others but not self, (3) hidden self known to self but not others, and (4) unknown self unknown to self and others. The goal is to increase the open area through feedback, disclosure, and discovery, while decreasing the blind, hidden, and unknown areas. As teams develop over time, members' open areas increase as others learn more about them. The model can be used to understand team dynamics and facilitate personal and interpersonal growth.
