Alecia Barnes has always worked with
children, focusing on early childhood,
specifically the birth to five population. She
graduated from Buffalo State College with a
BS in Clinical Psychology with a
concentration on children's mental health and
a BA in Speech Language Pathology. Prior to

a family daycare setting and became more
aware of how family dynamics are important
to establish a trusting relationship with
parents.
As a Certified Early Intervention Specialist
(CEIS), it bridged the gap between all of her
previous experiences and worked hand in
hand with the parents. She has always focused
on creating "teachable moments" for the child
when they were in her care. She now has such
an amazing opportunity to help parents find
their own moments with their children. They
celebrate the little moments that can be so
momentous. In those moments, these shared
experiences, she continues to learn and grow

couldn’t even wrap my head around the idea of colleges and what I wanted for my future,” she says. “Now
