11. Do I like the sound of the job?
• The job is in hospitality and is not the career path I wish to
follow. However, once I leave college, this could be a good job
to have for a while. It's not about who you know, it's about who
knows you. Therefore, having this job would mean I could
socialize with people in the industry, ask questions, show my
work and ask help for getting a job in their sector. This would be

12. Screen skills trainee finder - Link
The Trainee Finder is a program that, running yearly, matches
certain people with certain skills to different film and TV sets.
Throughout the year, trainees have the opportunity to apply for
placements in their chosen department on UK productions which
pay into the ScreenSkills' skills funds. In addition to placements,
they are trained in health and safety, finance for freelancers,
carbon literacy, branding and networking.
13. How does it work?
• People with a passion and talent for film, high-end TV children's
TV or animation, apply for the Trainee Finder scheme.
Successful applicants become part of an industry-recognised
group of talented new entrants.
• A production notifies us if they are looking to take on trainees
for their production and which departments they are interested
in considering trainees for. We will then inform all relevant
trainees of the opportunity. Details of those who are interested
will be submitted to the production and the production will then
invite any trainees it wishes to meet for an interview.
14. What is the runner again?
• Relating slightly to the previous job, floor runners do anything
required to aid the shoot's progress. They run errands, convey
messages, look after cast and crew, make drinks and provide
food, drive and deliver kit.
• Runner is possibly the most simple and basic way to gain
experience on a set without having a large amount of pressure
on your shoulders. Most of the greats today started out as
runners and it is just a matter of working yourslef up the ranks a
s time progresses.
15. How can I use screen skills to help?
• Not only do ScreenSkills provide a platform to apply for jobs
such as runners, but also they give advice on how to become
one. Luckily they recommend doing the "BTEC Level 3 National
Extended Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production" which
happens to be my exact course!
• This job and website is very tempting to me and I am defiantly
liking what the job entails and where it can take me within the
future.
