Summary
• Be yourself
• Be prepared
• Be organized
• Be considerate
Be Yourself
• You will be more comfortable in the
interview if you are being yourself.
• The interviewer needs to learn about who
you really are before deciding if you’ll be a
“fit” for the position and the organization.
• You have something special to bring to the
  position; project confidence!
Be Prepared
• Research the company thoroughly. If possible, research the
people you will be interviewing with.
• Prepare relevant questions. Remember you are interviewing them
as much as they are interviewing you!
   – Ask only questions the interviewer has not already covered, but ask for
     clarification if necessary.
   – Ask what specific things in your background or on your resume attracted the
     company’s attention.
   – Ask about management styles, company culture, training, hours, attire, etc.

• Be prepared to answer and ask relevant situational questions,
“What would you do if…”, or “Describe a situation where you…..”
• Practice interviewing with someone who can give you unbiased
  feedback.
• Know where your interview will be and plan how to get there.
Be Organized
• Bring a copy of your resume, paper, pen,
  business cards, etc.
• Bring examples of your work, if appropriate for
  the position.
• Bring your references’ names, phone numbers,
addresses, etc. (You may need them for an
  application form.)
• Ask the interviewers for their business cards, or
write down their names and contact information.
Be Considerate
• Be on time!
• Ask how much time the interviewer has
allotted for you; keep your “question
  session” within that timeframe.
• Within 24 hours, send a personalized,
handwritten thank-you note to each person
who interviewed you. Use e-mail only if
you were unable to obtain a mailing
  address.
