Job Design is a studio conceiving services for future careers, held within the Master in Product Service System Design of Politecnico di Milano in 2016
The presentation propose a new way of consulting citizens making use of co-design. It does so taking the example of the project CIMULACT, an European funded project in which Polimi DESIS Lab participated as a core partner.
CIMULACT (which stands for Citizen and Multi-Actor Consultation on Horizon 2020) engages citizens, along with a wide range of other actors, in redefining the European Research and Innovation Agenda and thereby making it relevant and accountable to society.
Project team: Anna Meroni, Daniela Selloni, Martina Rossi
Presentation done for the Explore Talks, about two different participatory action formats: Creative Citizens and Hacking Public Services (a design studio held in the School of Design of Politecnico di Milano - Master in product Service System Design, a.y. 20014/2015 Professors Anna Meroni, Daniela Selloni, Eduardo Staszowski)
Corporate Governance: Designing a service that adds valueRichard McLean
If project governance can slow down delivery, an organisation's corporate governance - which is often further removed from delivery teams - can be an even bigger blocker, an even greater hurdle to get over. This case study is the story of how at the Food Standards Agency we're changing corporate governance so that it supports delivery.
Corporate governance is a key area in the 'environment' surrounding delivery teams. It has the power to massively impact (or even block) delivery, yet it is traditionally very rigid and waterfall. At the Food Standards Agency, we're thinking about who 'uses' the corporate governance, and using service design thinking to shape the service so that it is responsive to their user needs.

Service Learning Labs: Integrating experiential learning across a BSW Curricu...Laurel Hitchcock
Day 4 of #BPDTX16 for me and my last presentation will be at 9:30 AM today. I will be talking about the work I have been doing with my colleague, Dr. Scott Batey, along with many other partners at UAB and in the Birmingham community. Unfortunately, Scott was not able to attend BPD this year, but he feels confident I won’t mess up the presentation. For our session, we really wanted to highlight the development of service learning labs in our BSW curriculum as a case study, hopefully offering tips and ideas for others wanting to incorporate more service learning into their assignments, courses & curricula.

Transforming Brand Perception and Boosting Profitabilityaaryangarg12
In today's digital era, the dynamics of brand perception, consumer behavior, and profitability have been profoundly reshaped by the synergy of branding, social media, and website design. This research paper investigates the transformative power of these elements in influencing how individuals perceive brands and products and how this transformation can be harnessed to drive sales and profitability for businesses.
Through an exploration of brand psychology and consumer behavior, this study sheds light on the intricate ways in which effective branding strategies, strategic social media engagement, and user-centric website design contribute to altering consumers' perceptions. We delve into the principles that underlie successful brand transformations, examining how visual identity, messaging, and storytelling can captivate and resonate with target audiences.
Methodologically, this research employs a comprehensive approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses. Real-world case studies illustrate the impact of branding, social media campaigns, and website redesigns on consumer perception, sales figures, and profitability. We assess the various metrics, including brand awareness, customer engagement, conversion rates, and revenue growth, to measure the effectiveness of these strategies.
The results underscore the pivotal role of cohesive branding, social media influence, and website usability in shaping positive brand perceptions, influencing consumer decisions, and ultimately bolstering sales and profitability. This paper provides actionable insights and strategic recommendations for businesses seeking to leverage branding, social media, and website design as potent tools to enhance their market position and financial success.

Editor's Notes
provide concrete input to the current research programme of the European Union (Horizon 2020) that will allocate 75 billion Euro until 2020.
From November 2015 until early January 2016 national citizen vision workshops (NCV workshops) were held in 30 European countries and generated 179 citizens’ visions for desirable and sustainable futures. Altogether 1,088 citizens took part.
We wil try to reflect what are the jobs that currently fulfill these needs and then we will do another exercise to understand what kind of jobs can satisfy thes eneeds in the future, in ten years
You will be divided into 12 groups and each group will work on one of the societal needs.
11 societal needs from CIMULACT they require a different organisation of the society, the policy and the market in order to be fulfilled.
Three main themes are common to the projects. While inspired by the Cimulact proposals, they reflect the sensibilities of the students and their priorities for the future:
education
food and environment
community and participation

As population grows and resources dwindle, Cities become places of food production and urban farming is one way for this.
Local production of food is moved within the city boundaries smart buildings don’t only consume energy, food, water and produce waste they increasingly support their inhabitants
New techniques like hydroponics and new forms of farming and sharing allow buildings to become space of food and energy production
Plants ensure better air quality, and pollution can be controlled by renewable energy produced individually or locally
New jobs emerge as new types of expertise to manage these hybrid environments emerge (urban farmer, hydroponic engineer, food tracer, energy manager)
School as a solid but changing institution
Traditional educational institutions remain present but with growing expectations of their capacity to open beyond their walls and consider the individual paths of their students
The focus on education of citizens and students reflects global concerns as shown by the UN Global Pulse survey that puts education first on the list of the world’s population priorities.
The proposals include :
extending the curriculum, supporting personal development, challenging students
school extends itself by integrating external roles and not attempting to grow internally
virtual visits, stimulating curiosity and self discovery, supporting individuals in mobility
new jobs include virtual guides, curiosity managers, mobility enablers, career support
