The document summarizes a presentation on the analysis of SEMIC.EU's business model. Some key findings from the analysis report are that SEMIC.EU's services are perceived as relevant by target groups but it operates in a complex environment. The analysis concluded that SEMIC.EU can only influence and inform, not directly sanction, to achieve its goals. Recommendations included moving towards federating national semantic asset repositories and simplifying the asset clearing process. PwC will now define a target "to be" business model and update SEMIC.EU's roadmap based on recommendations.
CHOReOS Large Scale Choreographies, OW2con11, Nov 24-25, 2011, ParisOW2
The document summarizes the CHOReOS project, which aims to develop a choreography-centric service-oriented architecture (SOA) for large-scale systems in the future internet and internet of things.
In the first year, the project achieved establishing an initial architectural style for choreographies, a dynamic development model, specifications for the middleware and integrated development and runtime environment. It is using three use cases related to airports, mobile coordination, and transportation to test the approach.
The project is also focusing on community building through the OW2 open source consortium to help ensure the long-term sustainability of the work beyond the initial funding period. It sees leveraging the OW2 ecosystem as key to fostering
This document discusses the importance of adopting the CMMI framework to help with Critical Software's internationalization goals. It notes that a small national market and economic crisis create a need to grow internationally. CMMI is presented as a means to achieve internationalization by bringing communities together through networking and shared processes, increasing efficiency through consistent project management, and establishing credibility through a recognized maturity model. Adopting CMMI is summarized as providing shortcuts to best practices that facilitate networking, increase effectiveness and efficiency, and provide a maturity framework for marketing and bidding purposes.

Strategic Program Management is about meeting the challenges of scale and complexity but also about capturing the opportunities of leverage. Every major program as well as the projects that comprise it is the subject of a detailed and rigorous risk analysis. This is not only appropriate but also necessary. But in order to capture the full value inherent in large programs, the program management consultant or PMC must be seeking out opportunities in a proactive and ongoing manner.
The PMC’s opportunity analysis is best constructed within a framework that ensures a comprehensive view of all aspects of the program. Unlike various risk frameworks and categorizations that exist, there is no comparable opportunity framework for program management in the engineering and construction industry.

This is the deck of a webinar that I presented at the OpenGroup. The focus of this webinar is on the challenge of using these standards in practice to build a strong architecture capability in organizations.
- The document summarizes a workshop about using Shibboleth federations to securely access spatial data infrastructure (SDI) resources through web services.
- An interoperability experiment was conducted where several organizations modified their web service client software to work with Shibboleth single sign-on across administrative domains.
- The experiment demonstrated that using Shibboleth to securely access web feature and map services through single sign-on is practical and does not require major software changes. This could help address interoperability barriers for cross-border applications needing to access protected spatial resources.
The document summarizes a workshop on using Shibboleth federations to securely access spatial data infrastructure (SDI) resources. It describes an interoperability experiment conducted by the Open Geospatial Consortium to test modifying open source clients to access web services secured by Shibboleth. Several organizations demonstrated desktop and browser-based clients accessing web feature and map services hosted in test identity federations. The experiment showed securing SDI resources with Shibboleth is practical and could help address cross-border data sharing challenges.
This document outlines the CARDIAC project which aims to advise the European Commission on research priorities in accessible and assistive information and communication technologies (ICT). The project will use a structured dialogic design process involving stakeholders to develop roadmaps on technology transfer, inclusive human-machine interaction, and network-based applications. Key activities include workshops and events to gather input which will be clustered and voted on to create the roadmaps defining short and long-term research priorities. The overall goal is to increase available products and services to improve integration and inclusion of people with disabilities.
The document discusses leveraging a developer network as a competitive weapon. It argues that communities can support corporate objectives by generating hard to recreate data and building competitive barriers. It provides a maturity model for corporate developer networks and outlines challenges such as balancing business objectives with community needs. The key is to strategically plan the community to align sponsor and member goals through a community-centric infrastructure that attracts users, builds the community, and captures the mindshare of participants.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.
