MONTREAL MUSEUM & METRO
Here we were asked to design a museum / metro station
to fill one of the several vacant metro station locations
that are spread throughout the greater Montreal area. The
building is an elongated split and shifted rectangle with a
large central circulation corridor on the second floor. The
building was clad with a gray scale cementitious board and
along the divide a corrugated red metal. The split provide
a relief from the continuous urban street oriented facade.
Widening the street presences provided an ideal entry area
that was welcoming to all citizens

A Series of Boxes
Furniture design and fabrication is a true passion
of mine. This unique book shelf was one piece that
I designed and built myself for a furniture seminar.
The bookshelf itself is constructed of hard white
maple and black steel piping. Providing over 50
feet of storage in a 30 square foot area of wall the
bookshelf provides ample storage for a private home
collection. Playing on the traditional four footed
bookshelf mine rests on three foot with the fourth
humorously connected to the wall via black oxide
screws.

Suntilator
This was an installation project
that I designed and constructed
with 2 of my colleagues. We were
asked to design and fabricate a
sun shading device that would
also allow ventilation to occur in
the Art & Architecture Gallery.
While appearing to be a random
set of holes, we used a binary
code translation of seven famous
quotes from seven different
famous architects throughout
history from Vitruvius to Zaha
Hadid. Using a 3-axis flat bed
CNC machine we were able to
produce the panels easily.

MONTPELIER ARTS CENTER
The Edge studio focused on site boundaries and spatial edg
conditions. Located on the out skirts of Montpelier, th
unique site was bordered by a rail road, the Winooski River
and the site access road. Located in what is a flood plain th
project provided a unique design element to overcome, henc
the truss bridge influenced under support system I included
in my design. The buildings program was determined
through a selection of actual art work from Richard Serra to
Michael Heizer. The entire studio also designed individual ar
pieces that would be shown in each museum as a collection o
student work. We were also charged with design an in hous
artist residence with accompanying work space.

DESIGNING a CAMPUS for the FUTURE
The focus of my Master’s research was to design a campus that
not only worked for todays academic methods but, would adapt
tothefuture’saswell. ByintroducinganUrbanizedcampusinto
a surrounding rural context I was able to provide the benefits
that result from each location. With a limited time table I
focused my energy on designing the campus center which
would be come the heart of the new YCCC. Here I combined
the existing Culinary Arts Program with the Administration
Offices, a small auditorium and a large enclosed courtyard area
that would serve as a multi-disciplinary space. Over all the
Campus Center is focused on adaptability as well as flexibility
to allow multiple programs to occur simultaneously, without
disruption of day to day activities.
