2. Spiral Fracture Caused by a twisting of the bone, the fracture line will corkscrew or spiral. The spiral fracture usually only occurs when a person is in motion. Falling down stairs and sports injuries are common causes of spiral fractures. For instance, an accident in figure skating with all if its twists, turns and twirls that could potentially cause a spiral fracture.
3. Comminuted Fracture Fracture in which the bone is shattered, splintered, or crushed into many small pieces or fragments. On the ice, watch out for the Zamboni. If that ran over you, it would crush your foot…maybe causing a comminuted fracture!
4. Greenstick Fracture A Greenstick fracture is an incomplete break. One side of the bone is broken where the other side is bent. Good thing these kids are wearing protective gear! We wouldn’t want our future hockey stars to end up with greenstick fractures due to sports accidents.
