Here are the two quick demonstrations for showing our skills with camera angles and shots and displaying our knowledge of the genre's we chose to immolate.
1) The group's original preliminary task filming took 2 hours and would have been around 2-3 minutes long, but they lost all the footage when it wasn't uploaded to their computer in time.
2) They hastily filmed a second preliminary task during a media lesson to meet the deadline, which took only 20 minutes and lacked the quality and detail of the first attempt.
3) The second task had a different storyline and location from the original horror drama due to the change in circumstances, and featured only the two main actresses since the main actor was unavailable.
1) A man enters an isolated, dirty abandoned house holding a gun. He cautiously searches the rooms, looking for potential enemies.
2) The man hears a jingling noise coming from a cupboard. He slowly approaches the cupboard with his gun drawn. When he opens it, he finds an old toy making the noise.
3) The man packs supplies from the abandoned house into bags, taking food from depleted cupboards and supplies from dirty, decrepit bedrooms. He leaves the house in despair, smashing the front door on his way out.
This document discusses planning for a horror thriller film, including why it received a 12 rating, the plot, intended audience, locations, camera angles, shots, protagonist movement, and conclusion to logistics.
This document discusses how various shots from a student horror film follow common horror film conventions to look professional and create tension. It analyzes shots of an isolated rural house, ominous titles with dramatic music, high and low camera angles to represent power and vulnerability, a character in dark clothing contrasting with the setting, an antagonist lurking in the shadows unaware to the protagonist, revealing the antagonist in dark lighting, and a high angle shot of the antagonist approaching the vulnerable protagonist in a sparse, gothic house. The goal is to both conform to and challenge horror genre conventions to engage an urban audience.
Music videos originated in the 1920s as short musical films called "talkies" containing animated performances. Standalone promotional music videos emerged in the 1960s, with one of the first being Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" featuring him shuffling through song lyrics on cue cards. Modern music videos like Justin Bieber's "Baby" contain special effects, choreography, and illustrate the song, showing how the format has evolved significantly from early experimental videos like Bessie Smith's "St. Louis Blues" in black and white or Queen's simple 1975 performance video for "Bohemian Rhapsody" to become a major part of the music industry.
The document discusses editing a music video and achieving various visual effects. It describes using blue and pink color overlays to represent different sides of the character. It also discusses having to edit the video in three separate sections due to large file sizes. Techniques like layering clips, matching cuts to the beat, and using a sixteen-point garbage matte to combine clips shot under different lighting conditions are mentioned.

Our target audience for the horror film was teenagers aged 15-20 based on market research. We aimed to attract both male and female viewers by including female protagonists and addressing the typically male-dominated genre. Additionally, the film was targeted towards an urban, middle-class social group by featuring appropriately dressed young actors, setting the story in a rural house typical of middle-class families, and including a storyline about a teenage girl returning from university that this demographic could relate to.
The document discusses representations and conventions in rock and indie/alternative/electronic music videos. For rock videos, it notes conventions like a dark, low-key tone; performance-based content with little narrative or dancing; and imagery of dark clothing and high energy. The document plans to incorporate these conventions through the protagonist's dark ripped jeans and energetic lip-syncing and movement. For indie videos, it mentions conventions like casual clothing and less special effects. It plans to include some of these conventions to seem more realistic while also using unusual camera movements to represent the female protagonist and broader imagination.
This film pitch targets teenagers and young adults. It will use young actors and up-to-date music familiar to that generation. The plot follows a boy and girl separately getting ready for what appears to be a date together, but they do not actually know each other. Scenes will be shot in a house, a car, and on a road to depict their preparations and presumed date. Parallel editing will be used to contrast the two characters and lead viewers to initially believe they are preparing to meet.
The document discusses two narrative theories: the enigma code and binary opposites. The enigma code sets up puzzles or questions to engage audiences, like hiding villains or missing characters. Binary opposites create meaning through contrasts, such as vulnerability versus power. The film applies these theories by having an empty house for most of the opening to raise questions, and using a diary to make audiences wonder about a family's murder. It also avoids labeling the friends as "good guys" so the antagonist is identified through contrasts.
- The document summarizes the responses to a survey about music video preferences. It discusses how the responses provide insight into their target audience and what aspects of music videos appeal to different people.
- The survey responses showed that the target audience was young and enjoyed music videos for entertainment and interest. They enjoyed narratives, fashion, and artist performances in videos.
- The document concludes that the proposed narrative concept for their video was approved by survey respondents and provides guidance on including variety and avoiding clichés.
The document analyzes the results of a questionnaire given to the intended audience for a student-produced music video. Key findings include:
- The target age range of the audience is 15-21 years old.
- More female respondents took the survey than male.
- All respondents are in full-time education.
- Pop, mainstream and alternative music are most popular genres.
- Illustrative and amplification are the preferred music video styles.
- City locations are favored settings.
- Special effects and colorful lighting should be included.
- The narrative will focus on a friendship rather than romance.
