Jeffery Whippo Came Up With the Common
Measures of Successful and Unsuccessful
Leadership
 Dr. Jeffery Whippo is a leadership consultant with many years of success in
business and military leadership.
 He believes that when measuring leadership, there are various techniques
that are used to measure the aptitude of the leaders themselves, to include
their leadership competencies, as well as to measure their effect on their
subordinates that are following them.
 He says that often the consequences or outcomes of the leader’s behaviors
are judged rather than the actual behaviors themselves.
He Comes Up With Most Commonly Used
Measures to Rate Successful and
Unsuccessful Leaders
 He further indicates some of the most commonly used measures to rate
successful and unsuccessful leaders.
 It includes rating superior’s effectiveness and performance ratings,
subordinate’s ratings of their job satisfaction & morale of their leader’s
effectiveness, and business unit performance indices.
 However, the major disadvantage of using superior’s rating measure is that
the raters may be unwilling to provide tough feedback.
 The advantage is that the ratings are subject to the leaders’ behaviors and
multiple raters are used, therefore scores are averaged out to a mean
performance rating.

 Jeff Whippo has a Doctorate in Business Administration and a Ph.D. in
Educational Psychology.
 He has over 25 years of education and leadership experience and is a
decorated combat veteran.
 He is a well-educated professional who has attended California Coast
University, Boston University, California State Polytechnic University,
Community College of the Air Force, and Citrus College.
 He worked as a Combat Intelligence Specialist for the USAF for almost 4
years.

Jeffery Whippo Came Up With the Common Measures of Successful and Unsuccessful Leadership  Dr. Jeffery Whippo is a leadership consultant with many years of success in business and military leadership.  He believes that when measuring leadership, there are various techniques that are used to measure the aptitude of the leaders themselves, to include their leadership competencies, as well as to measure their effect on their subordinates that are following them.  He says that often the consequences or outcomes of the leader’s behaviors are judged rather than the actual behaviors themselves.

He Comes Up With Most Commonly Used Measures to Rate Successful and Unsuccessful Leaders  He further indicates some of the most commonly used measures to rate successful and unsuccessful leaders.  It includes rating superior’s effectiveness and performance ratings, subordinate’s ratings of their job satisfaction & morale of their leader’s effectiveness, and business unit performance indices.  However, the major disadvantage of using superior’s rating measure is that the raters may be unwilling to provide tough feedback.  The advantage is that the ratings are subject to the leaders’ behaviors and multiple raters are used, therefore scores are averaged out to a mean performance rating.

More About Jeff Whippo  Jeff Whippo has a Doctorate in Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology.  He has over 25 years of education and leadership experience and is a decorated combat veteran.  He is a well-educated professional who has attended California Coast University, Boston University, California State Polytechnic University, Community College of the Air Force, and Citrus College.  He worked as a Combat Intelligence Specialist for the USAF for almost 4 years.
