SteamCannon is a Platform-as-a-Service by JBoss that allows developers to deploy applications into a cloud environment. It provides pre-configured environments with load balancers, application servers and databases. Developers can deploy applications by uploading artifacts through the SteamCannon web interface. The presentation demonstrated deploying a sample application and discussed SteamCannon's features like one-click deployment and scaling of clusters.

AEM Author, Publish and Dispatcher instances can be fully configured and deployed as code with Chef. In this talk we will discuss how the open source AEM Chef Cookbook can be used to automate the deployment of AEM instances with Chef features like recipes, attributes, providers and resources. Out of the box, the AEM Chef Cookbook supports:
- Unattended installation of AEM Author, Publish, and Dispatcher nodes.
- Automatic search for and configuration of AEM cluster members using Chef searches.
- Configuration for replication agents using the replicator provider.
- Configurations for Dispatcher farms with the farm provider.

We will also cover the fundamentals of Elastic Beanstalk and how it benefits developers looking for a quick and scalable way to get their applications running on AWS with no infrastructure work required. In the second half of the session Sean O’Brien, engineer at Prezi, will share how Prezi is using Elastic Beanstalk to build microservices for its entire development team.
Building a microservices architecture using Docker can require a lot of work, from launching and operating the underlying infrastructure to installing and maintaining cluster management software. With AWS Elastic Beanstalk’s multicontainer support feature, many of these tasks are simplified and abstracted away so you can focus on your application code. AWS Elastic Beanstalk is an easy-to-use service for deploying and scaling web applications and services developed with Java, .NET, PHP, Node.js, Python, Ruby, Go, and Docker. Elastic Beanstalk leverages Amazon EC2 Container Service for its container management capabilities.

Achieving Infrastructure Portability with ChefMatt Ray
Deploying to the cloud has made it easy to run large numbers of servers, but users may become dissatisfied with their particular cloud platform for reasons such as price, support and performance. There are a number of vendor lock-ins to avoid, this talk discusses how to do so with the open source configuration management and infrastructure automation platform Chef. Chef makes it easy to deploy to nearly every public and private cloud platform as well as virtualized and physical servers. Chef may also be used to deploy cloud infrastructures such as OpenStack, Eucalyptus or CloudStack. By abstracting away the platform, infrastructure becomes portable and you are free to deploy wherever necessary.
Chef is an open source configuration management and service integration automation tool that has been integral to a number of large successful OpenStack deployments. This talk will provide a brief introduction to Chef and why it frequently the configuration tool of choice for large deployments and discuss the use of Chef within the OpenStack ecosystem (development, testing, deploying and managing the installation). Chef also provides the ability to manage the instances running on top of Nova through the knife-openstack plugin.
