Who is Jane Austen? Jane Austen was an authoress who published more than six works during her lifetime. She was born in Steventon in Hampshire in 1775 and died in Winchester, England in 1817. Many of her works are considered classic literature.
Jane’s World Jane lived here from 1809-1817. Located in Chawton in Hampshire. She revised two of her novels and wrote three more while living in this house.

Themes Money - Jane Austen’s   character s  are usually middle class. They are not poor, but they are not rich either. Love and marriage - form of financial transaction for women in thi s  time. All of Austen’s character s  marry for LOVE. Sisters/families - For Austen’ s  character s:   a) offer love and support b) sometimes   they provide obstacles.
Many of Austen’s novels have been adapted into films. There are many web sites dedicated to Jane Austen’s life and works.
