Jane Austen was born in 1775 in Hampshire, England. She came from a family of clergymen and lived the first 25 years of her life in Steventon Parsonage. Though she never married, Austen began writing at a young age and published six novels during her lifetime, including Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, and Emma. Austen drew inspiration from her family, personal experiences, and Regency-era English society in her works, which are known for their wit and social commentary. She lived a quiet life and died in Winchester in 1817 at the age of 41.
