International Visitor Leadership Program
 AMERICAN YOUTH: INSPIRING LEADERSHIP AND
            CIVIC PARTICIPATION
International Visitor Leadership Program
The International Visitor Leadership Program annually
   brings to the United States approximately 5,000
foreign nationals from all over the world to meet and
  confer with their professional counterparts and to
            experience America firsthand.

  The visitors, who are selected by American Foreign
   Service Officers overseas, are current or potential
          leaders in government, politics, the
 media, education, the arts, business and other fields.
AMERICAN YOUTH: INSPIRING LEADERSHIP
      AND CIVIC PARTICIPATION
   The group will be taught the skills necessary for
 becoming future leaders and discuss methods to be
        used to develop these skills in critical
   thinking, decision-making, communication and
    organization, and building leadership capacity.

     The importance of pluralism, tolerance and
volunteerism as components of civic life in the United
    States will be emphasized in this programme
Iowa   New York




San Francisco   Tennessee Washington DC
Programme begins in Washington, D.C.
• Tour of the city and a briefing on current challenges faced by American youth.
• The group will also meet with the U.S. Department of Education officials where they will learn the role of the
federal government in the U.S. education system.

Nashville, Tennessee,
• Participate in the Annual National Service-Learning Conference organized by National Youth Leadership
Council and Volunteer Tennessee.

San Francisco
• Focus on activism in schools, including youth mobilization for social action and youth development skills.
• The group will also visit an after-school project sponsored by “Team-up For Youth,” which works with local
organizations creating after-school sports opportunities for youth in partnership

Cleveland, Ohio
• Look into various organizations working on issues of youth and economic development as a part of local
grassroots democracy.

New York
• Attend Leadership development workshop and Cultural and networking events.
•Visit Local community organizations in underserved neighborhoods;

Wrap up in Washington, D.C.
• Participants learning about U.S. foreign policy priorities at the beginning of the Obama Administration.
• They will visit the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to discuss
research and training initiatives to guide federal juvenile justice issues
• Meet with the Corporation for National Community Service’s “Learn and Service America programme.”

  • 1. International Visitor Leadership Program AMERICAN YOUTH: INSPIRING LEADERSHIP AND CIVIC PARTICIPATION
  • 2. International Visitor Leadership Program The International Visitor Leadership Program annually brings to the United States approximately 5,000 foreign nationals from all over the world to meet and confer with their professional counterparts and to experience America firsthand. The visitors, who are selected by American Foreign Service Officers overseas, are current or potential leaders in government, politics, the media, education, the arts, business and other fields.
  • 3. AMERICAN YOUTH: INSPIRING LEADERSHIP AND CIVIC PARTICIPATION The group will be taught the skills necessary for becoming future leaders and discuss methods to be used to develop these skills in critical thinking, decision-making, communication and organization, and building leadership capacity. The importance of pluralism, tolerance and volunteerism as components of civic life in the United States will be emphasized in this programme

  • 5. Programme begins in Washington, D.C. • Tour of the city and a briefing on current challenges faced by American youth. • The group will also meet with the U.S. Department of Education officials where they will learn the role of the federal government in the U.S. education system. Nashville, Tennessee, • Participate in the Annual National Service-Learning Conference organized by National Youth Leadership Council and Volunteer Tennessee. San Francisco • Focus on activism in schools, including youth mobilization for social action and youth development skills. • The group will also visit an after-school project sponsored by “Team-up For Youth,” which works with local organizations creating after-school sports opportunities for youth in partnership Cleveland, Ohio • Look into various organizations working on issues of youth and economic development as a part of local grassroots democracy. New York • Attend Leadership development workshop and Cultural and networking events. •Visit Local community organizations in underserved neighborhoods; Wrap up in Washington, D.C. • Participants learning about U.S. foreign policy priorities at the beginning of the Obama Administration. • They will visit the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to discuss research and training initiatives to guide federal juvenile justice issues • Meet with the Corporation for National Community Service’s “Learn and Service America programme.”
