The document discusses recommendations for TV shows to watch if you are spending time as a "couch potato." It recommends three shows: The X-Files, known for its long run and themes of UFOs and government conspiracies; Breaking Bad, which is highly addictive to binge watch though the first season is less exciting; and House of Cards for Kevin Spacey's talented acting as a character immersed in video games. It also suggests wearing comfortable clothing like a jumper and joggers while binge watching to feel "worth a million dollars."
2. The Jewellery You Need To
Buy
Men’s jewellery. So many dos and
don’ts in the past few years. It has to be
kept simple but elegant. It’s a major plus
on a date, trust me on this one. So what
are you going to buy? You need
something that’ll stand out right? You
don’t want to fit in the crowd, you want
to stand out a little. Introducing Miansai,
the game changer of jewellery. Justin
Bieber recently included it in his GQ
cover shoot (he’s cool now, right?). As a
student, saving money for purchases
like this is a rare occurrence but the first
chance I get, I am absolutely going to
make a purchase. It’s simple, stylish and
affordable to most, lets bring the men’s
jewellery game up boys.
3. Will tattoos stop you from getting
a job?
It’s something your mother will always mention when
you say you want to get a tattoo. But what is the reality
of it? Is it actually a restriction for jobs? Are they not
now more of a fashion trend? People get tattoos for
different reasons - for memory, for decoration or for
meanings. The reason you get it for won't matter, in the
eyes of your employer its still a tattoo. As someone
who already has tattoos, I do contemplate from time to
time what sort of job I will end up with because of them.
But I don’t worry about it in the end because its already
done and there’s no chance I’m getting laser treatment.
My personal opinion on this topic is that tattoos have
become fashionable, there not a problem for a majority
of jobs and this is managerial and higher managerial
employment I’m referring to. There are TV shows about
tattoos now, just think about that. 10 years ago, do you
really think TV companies would have the courage to
create a series revolving around tattoos? If they can be
covered, you’re more likely to get the job. If you have a
face tattoo or one on your hands, good luck. But then
again there are always companies hiring and it will be
for your experience and ability to do your job, not the
art we share on our skin.
4. The Celebrity Effect
Why is it that we so often see a brand feature one of
our favourite celebrities in an advertisement. What is
the effect of that advert that suddenly encourages us
to purchase a product from that brand from that
advertisement alone. Does it affect everyone who
sees the advert? What about people who don’t really
know or like the celebrity? do they find it effective? If
celebrity appeal in advertisements is so effective why
stop with just the adverts, presuming these
celebrities are so encouraged to do an advert with
the business, what would stop them from giving their
own insight on the brand image. The celebrity effect
is simply the involvement of celebrities in
advertisements or collaborations, making the viewer
feel like they a part of the brand and encouraging
them to make a purchase. The effect of this can go
either way depending on the marketing of the brand.
Let’s look at the most recent campaign by Calvin
Klein. By introducing the likes of Justin Bieber and
Kendall Jenner, it can be very influential especially if
you are already a fan of CK. By the way I’m judging
you if you’re not, try their socks, trust me.
5. What about the collaboration between Amy
Winehouse and Fred Perry. Recently,
having a project related to Fred Perry
encouraged me to have a look at the
collaboration. In my opinion, I could see that
it would be very successful as they both
work very well together, similar in many
ways and keeping the British original image
true to the brand. Other collaborations and
using celebrities are very different. None of
them are as effective as the collaboration
between Fred Perry and Amy Winehouse,
you just literally can’t beat a connection like
that. Celebrity appeal can work in a way,
that is if you are a fan of the person featured
or if there is a really strong link between the
two, otherwise I don't see it as a useful
strategy in today’s era of marketing and
advertising.
6. You’re a Couch Potato
I don’t blame you either, lounging around and
binging on Netflix has become the norm for society.
So we might as well embrace it and I’m going to
give you the best TV series out there to fulfil your
needs. If you’ve watched all of them,
congratulations, you have completed Couch Potato.
The X Files
There’s not many TV series that can say they’ve
run for as long as ‘The X Files’. In fact I’m pretty
sure there aren’t any TV series that can say that.
The classical theme tune should be in your head by
now. I remember hearing it at the age of 3 years old
and running to go and watch the latest episode with
my mother. She got me hooked at the age of 3
years old, my mum is a total babe for that. With the
latest season upon us, you’ve got a lot of catching
up to do but its totally worth it and you won’t regret
one second of the hunt for discovering the truth of
AI and UFOs.
7. Breaking Bad
You were probably
expecting to see this on
the list, but for a good
reason. Breaking Bad is
set out so well that you’ll
end up finding yourself
watching an entire season
in one day. It really does
get you that hooked. You’ll
have to get through the
first season though, its not
as exciting as the other
seasons, I think we can all
agree. The spin off series
Better Call Saul is also a
good shout if you’re a fan
of BB.
House of Cards
Kevin Spacey is always a
great watch, his acting
talent is second to none.
In House of Cards he
portrays a character who
is pretty much fed up of
life whilst immersing his
time at home playing first
person shooters, he has
become a character of a TV
series that you will love.
You should watch it just
because of Kevin Spacey.
8. I could give you multiple TV series to watch
but I don’t want to overwhelm you guys. It’s
good to go outside too. If you’ve already seen
every single episode of the series featured
then number one: I’m impressed and number
two: go and re-watch them.
If you’re going to spend hours watching these
TV series then here is a suggestion. Invest in
some comfortable clothing to do so. No movie
night/day can be complete without a comfy
jumper and joggers, its the rule you don’t
wear jeans, don’t you dare wear jeans. Just a
little something to interest you that will make
you feel like you’re worth a million dollar for
surprisingly a very small price.
