Seymour Lubetzky was a prominent 20th century cataloguing theorist, teacher, and librarian. He received degrees from UCLA and UC Berkeley and worked at the Sequoia National Park Library, UCLA, and the Library of Congress over his long career. Lubetzky published several influential works on cataloging rules and principles and played a major role in developing international cataloging standards and the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules. He made lasting contributions to the field of cataloguing over nearly sixty years of work.
