2. INTRODUCTION
The ISCRAM ASIA 2012 Conference on
Information Systems for Crisis Response and
Management (ISCRAM ASIA2012) will be held
at LOONG PALACE, Beijing, China, from
October 17 to 19,2012. This conference
develops from prior 5 ISCRAM-CHINA
conferences, which were jointly sponsored by
Information Systems for Crisis Response and
Management Association and Harbin
Engineering University, and will develop into an
international conference this year in Asia.
3. SPONSOR
This conference will be jointly sponsored
by Harbin Engineering University,
Tsinghua University and Institute of
Disaster Prevention.
4. CONFERENCE THEMES
The conference will focus on human dimension of
information systems for crisis response and
management to deal with theoretical and practical
problems of crisis warning, forecasting,
supervising, evaluation, drilling and decision
making in the fields of natural disasters (such as
earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis, typhoon, flood,
drought, frost injury, blizzard, sandstorm, etc),
environmental disaster, city security, public
security, production security, transportation safety
and enterprise crisis, etc.

6. In addition, a symposium on Disaster Prevention
and Emergency Technique in Asia-Pacific Mega-
City will be jointly hosted by Tsinghua University,
China and University of Tokyo, Japan for the
duration of the conference.

8. CITY INTRODUCTION-Beijing
Beijing is the capital of the People’s Republic of
China. It is the political and cultural center of
China. The city enjoys a long history of more than
three thousand years. It has been capitals for
several dynasties in the past eight hundred and
fifty years.
The center of Beijing is located at 39°59′N,
116°20′E. The administration area of Beijing is
about 16,410 square kilometers while the central
city occupies an area of 87 square kilometers. The
weather of Beijing is featured with a hot and humid
summer, cold and dry winter, along with short
spring and autumn.
