Bilingualism in the Classroom
It s never too early to start. This sentence may seem familiar, uttered by parents as they encourage
their children to begin piano lessons or go to junior basketball camps. Whatever the situation, it
seems as though starting to learn early affords a child some sort of advantage. It can most likely
be assumed that this quasi proverb translates to language as well: a language that is learned and
used regularly from a young age is probably better ingrained into the mind of its user than one
learned late and used sporadically. It has been made evident through research by Bialystok, Craik,
and Luk that there are immense neurological advantages that come from bilingualism. Also, as
stated by Martha Nussbaum, proficiency in more than one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is extremely important to encourage children to see the world on a large scale from many
perspectives, because the future of society will depend on it. If young people are able to see
themselves as not simply citizens of some local region or group but also, and above all, as
human beings bound to all other human beings by ties of recognition and concern (Nussbaum,
1998), they will be more open minded and willing to accept diversity among people. Learning a
language requires a person to really delve into a culture, to understand how and why the people
of that culture communicate in such ways. Although learning a language is not equivalent to
living in a culture, the former can undoubtedly afford some insight into the latter. For example,
whereas in English we have very few words for snow and ice, in the Saami language, spoken in
Scandinavia, there exist several specific words for different types of snow and situations in which
snow and ice appear (Magga, 2006). To understand why, it requires exploring the culture of Saami
language speakers. It becomes clear, upon investigation, that knowledge of snow and ice conditions
[are] a necessity for subsistence and survival in the arctic and sub arctic areas, where the Saami
language is spoken (Magga, 2006). This aspect of life is made evident through the language;
without even being immersed in the culture it

Arundel Partners Case Analysis
Arundel Partners Case Analysis
Executive Summary: A group of investors (Arundel group) is looking into the idea of
purchasing the sequel rights associated with films produced by one or more major movie
studios. Movie rights are to be purchased prior to films being made. Arundel wants to come up
with a decision to either purchase all the sequel rights for a studio s entire production during a
specified period of time or purchase a specified number of major films. Arundel s profitability is
dependent upon the price it pays for a portfolio of sequel rights. Our analysis of Arundel s proposal
includes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More data on success probabilities may help to direct the course of action
We would also like to have information about the willingness of production companies to sell sequel
rights at a pre negotiated price. Action Plan: Given our analysis of the motion picture industry, we
recommend that Arundel carefully select the major film studios from which they intend to
purchase sequel rights. The net present value of hypothetical sequels taken from the available
previous years shows not only that the industry is highly volatile, but also that certain production
studios are more volatile than others in terms of their recent performance. In addition, some
studios are consistently less profitable than others. (See NPV for Each Production Company
chart in appendix) Since the success of film studios are relatively stable in the short term (see
Rental Shares of Major Film Distributors table and graph) Because of this stability, it is possible
for Arundel to approach more profitable studios with their offer to purchase sequel rights. Out of
all the major film studios, only MCA Universal, Warner Bros., and The Walt Disney Company
generate a positive net present value on a per film basis. However, according to casual inquiries, it
is unlikely that any movie studio would enter negotiations with Arundel on a per film price that is
less than 1 million. Instead, the film studios seem to

Gay Fm History
First broadcast at midnight on Sunday 2nd September 1990, Gay FM began life after the board
of 4CCR accepted a 3 page submission for the programme, including 100 signatures in support, and
an example of the gay news items to be used in the show.
Arriving in Cairns from Sydney a few weeks before, with some experience presenting Sydney s
Wild G.A.L.S. (Gay and Lesbian Show), Terry Barrie put together the submission and became host
of the show.
Allocated a challenging time slot, starting at midnight Sunday, the show filled two hours, though
after 5 successful years, in 1995 the board agreed to a 3 hour show at the more accessible time of
9 PM. In that same year, 4CCR expanded its broadcasting capacity north to Port Douglas, south to

Dendrite Vs Neuron
In our human brains, there are about one billion nerve cells, called neurons. They transport
information from one part of the brain to the other part of the brain. Which mean neurons are
passing signals to other neurons. Because of this system, we are able to have thoughts, memories
and moods. Neurons have numerous branches, called dendrite. There are branching like fibers
helps to receive information and pass it to other cells. Then on to the axon. Comparing to dendrite,
axon is a lot longer and it takes the information away from the cell body. Each neuronhas only one
axon but like dendrite, it has a lot of branches. At the end of the axon, there are small outgrowths,
called terminal buttons. They store neurotransmitters and release it during... Show more content on

The synaptic gap or the synaptic cleft is where the axon is sending chemical substances to dendrite.
Pre synaptic neuron is transmitting neurotransmitter and post synaptic neuron receives
neurotransmitter. Neurotransmitter can affect or mental abilities and there are different types of
them. Like; Acetylcholine (ACh), Dopamine, Serotonin, Norepinephrine, Gamma aminobutyric
acid (GABA), Glutamate. Acetylcholine helps work the muscles. And also, learning and memory.
When the brain not producing ACh the way they should be; this is how Alzheimer s disease
develop. Dopamine plays the role of moods, motivation, learning, and movement. Malfunctions of
this neurotransmitter is Parkinson s disease and schizophrenia. Parkinson s happens when the brain
is undersupplying of dopamine and schizophrenia is overproducing. Serotonin have an impact on
mood, appetite, regulate sleep, and arousal. When the brain is undersupply of serotonin, mental
disease like, depression are developed. This is why in antidepressant, it helps raise the levels of
serotonin. Norepinephine have the ability to regulate alertness and arousal. Similar to serotonin,
depression occur when there is a low amount levels of norepinephine. GABA is a very major
neurotransmitter, it controls and regulate sleep, relaxation and anxiety. Seizures, tremors, and
insomnia involves when the brain is low with GABA. Glutamate have similar ability to the

Porgy And Bess Sparknotes
Porgy and Bess is a play written by three Caucasian men. The play was written in the 1920s 1930s.
Around this time racism was strong as ever. White people already didn t think much of us. It took
place in a small town in South Carolina called Catfish Row. The apartments sat close to a beach.
Throughout the play, there was plenty of ways that portrayed African Americanin a negative way.
Porgy and Bess is the epitome of how Caucasians thought of African Americans and the way we
live.
Throughout my paper I m going to express how white people judged African Americans, Where
did Porgy and Bess come from, and The names of the characters and how degrading the authors are
making African Americans out to be. The names of the characters go a long way. Some of their
names have meaning to them, the meaning of their names are literally the role they play. And the
time the play was written.
Gershwin labeled the play as a folk opera. It was written in the year of 1935 by a Jewish man.
Which makes it interesting to study the kind of impact it had on the African Americans at that time.

Room Is An Independent Drama Feminist Film Essay
Women in media are underrepresented. They are overwhelmingly valued in film based on their
identification as a mother, wife, or lover. This is cause by media such as internet and TV
because they create comparisons by influencing in an individual s viewpoints of society and
setting ideals. Mother s roles in society are and have been watched at as responsible for the
development of their children. If these requirements are not fit by mothers they are looked
negatively upon society. Room is an independent drama feminist film based on Emma
Donoghue novel and is directed by Lenny Abramson in 2015 that changes society s ideals of
women as mothers. The film narrates Ma s story of being captive in a room that only have
skylight, four walls, a bed, a tub, and a TV with poor signal with her son Jack, a child of rape.
After seven years, Jack being five, they are able to escape and Ma s readjustment to society story
begin. Through specific choices in cinematography, Abramson creates a feminist film that
contradict the ideals of mothers in film and plays with Ma s strength making her a strong mother
while being captive in room and transforming her into a weak mother when she readjust to society.
Strength, sacrifice and love is an embodiment of mother. She should always know how much she is
worth and shouldn t let anyone define who she is. A mother s feminine power is very powerful and
at the same time supportive. Till their last breath, they will love their child unconditionally.

President John F. Kennedy And Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Former President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., gave the world two of the
most iconic and historic speech in American history. In January of 1961, John F. Kennedy gave
his infamous Inaugural Address. Not even heavy snow fall could deter JFK s inaugural address.
His mission was to reassure the American citizens their strengths and at the same time, motivate
them to inspired the world. One of the most famous phrases for Kennedy s speech, And so, my
fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your
country. One the other hand, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. speech I Have a Dream is a public
speech during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. King was one of the most famous
American civil rights activist. His mission for this iconic speech, was a call for an end to racism in
the United Statesof America. Thus, this speech was a defining moment in the civil rights
movement and was done so, at the Lincoln Memorial. Dr. King was a Baptist minister and was
the driving force behind the civil rights movement. He demanded justice for the unjustly. Mainly
the people of color. Both men, Dr. King and Mr. Kennedy, had some what of the same visions of
America. Their goals for America in their speech demanded peace and prosperity. Kennedy said,

Explain Why Stores Should Not Be Open On Thanksgiving
I think that stores should not be open on thanksgiving because one it will take time away from
thanksgiving and spending time with your famille. And two some people are opening loans just
to go shopping on thanksgiving and they are going into debt just to go shopping even though
people could go shopping after their dinner or spending time with their families., they should not
be open on thanksgiving because people are making loans to go shopping and people have died
shopping. Here is one reason why stores shouldn t be open. Some people are making their credit
card debt higher by shopping and having to pay more off. And some people are getting loans just
to go shopping. And if they do it they will have more money to pay off. And some people might
not be able to pay it off. And they might not be able to pay it off hand have enough money. And they

spend time with their families and have them employees spend time is to shop online and they
could open on black friday and then they can ship it instead of them missing thanksgiving with
their family. Another reason why they should not be open on thanksgiving is that some people
are getting hurt. And by hurt i mean either injured as bad as to go to the hospital or that it is fatal
(dead/deadly). Her is one reason why or how people are getting hurt. One is that people say that
they would kill for stuff well a someone (anonymous) because the police won t say who it was
and there was a disagreement over a parking spot and it sadly ended in two being shot and two
being wounded and lucky they were not hurt badly and they

Invention Exhibit Each Area
In the Places of Invention exhibit each area was sectioned based upon time, color, and
geographic location. The visitor took a colorful journey through time across the United States.
The materials used for the exhibit includes plexiglass, sintra, plywood, glass, metal, quartz like
material, and plastic kickboards. The pexiglass was placed over laminated pieces of sintra or
plywood to create the signs. The signage and wall text was mostly white with boarders of the
section s theme colorand the texts in black. Many of the signs and wall pieces had objects (gears,
headphone, and cystoscopes) printed into paper behind the pexiglass. The base of the case hold
the artifacts were metal and the covering for the cases was made of glass. The Hartford section
used dark orange, brownish orange, and lighter orange. The additional color used for signage and
wall text where white with black text which made it easier for the guest to read in the low
lighting. The color orange is associated with creativity, change and determination. This goes well
with the tone of the Hartford section because it discusses the 1800s in a factory town where the
boom of the industrial revolution was taking place, a time of intense creativity and change. In the
Medical Alley section the design team used red. This section discussed medical invention of
pacemakers and how open heart surgery was revolutionized. I feel red was very fitting because it
made the section feel intense. In this section the red

Compare The Difference Between A Day s Wait And Stolen Day
A Day s Wait and Stolen Day Pessimistic means to always see the worst in things or to always
believe the worst will happen. The author of A Day s Wait is Ernest Hemingway. The main
character in this story is a boy named Schatz and the story is told from Schatz s father s point of
view. In the story Schatz has the flu and he thinks he is going to die because he misunderstood the
temperaturemeasurements of Celsiusand Fahrenheit. The author of the story Stolen Day is
Sherwood Anderson. The main character is a boy who believes he has inflammatory rheumatism.

of these stories have many similarities and differences. The stories A Day s... Show more content on

One of these differences is, in the beginning of the story, Schatz does not want his father to come
into his room because he does not want his father to become ill as well. Schatz s father insisted
that he reads to Schatz. Schatz s father stayed with Schatz and read to him for a while. In the
story A Day s Wait it says, I read aloud from Howard Pyle s Book of Pirates; but I could see he
was not following what I was reading, (Hemingway 300 301). This quote shows that Schatz s
father read to Schatz even though Schatz was not following along. On the contrary, the boy from
Stolen Day wants more attention from his mother. In the story Stolen day it says, She was pretty
busy that day and hadn t paid much attention to me. She had made me get into bed upstairs and
then hadn t even come up to see how I was, (Anderson 307). This quote shows the boy wanted
more attention from his mother, because he said his mother had not paid attention to him.
Another difference between the two stories is Schatz was truly sick while the boy was not. The
doctor came to Schatz s house and gave him medicine so he would get better. However, the boy
from Stolen Day only thinks he had inflammatory rheumatism because he wants an excuse as to
why he can go fishing instead of going to school, (Anderson 307 308). There are many differences

Theories Of Development And Development Influence Human...
As our society continues to expand and develop, it is often wondered who exactly figured out how
people develop and learn. Dating back to the 1800s, numerous different theorists have researched
and experimented to interpret learning and development. Some major theorists that are incorporated
with theories of development include Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, and Erik Erikson. Along with the
theories of development, there are theories of learning. The four main theories include cognitive,
constructivism, social cognitive, and situative. First and foremost, Jean Piaget can be considered a
pioneer in psychology. His theory is considered one of the most influential and comprehensive
theories of cognitive development. This theory focuses on how nature and development influence
human intelligence. Piaget also describes how crucial a child s environment is when the child is
maturing and interacting with changes throughout their life. Different life changes can teach a
child right or wrong, cause and effect, and a comprehensive learning about how time and space
work. In Piaget s theory, he discusses the four stages to cognitive development: sensorimotor,
preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. The sensorimotor stage is how a child
orients himself with the constant physical movements and actions along with a corresponding
stimulus representing the same thing. Therefore, a child is only aware of something that is right in
front of them. For example, the constant

The Morning in College Essay
The Morning
Tuesday morning is the busiest time in my week. As I wake up thirty minutes before the class

with a cup of coffee but I do not have time to do so. I regret that I stayed up late last night.
Tuesday is a day that I have to wake up early because I am taking a class at nine thirty. At nine

However, I leave it as it is. Then I go to bathroom and wash my face and teeth. After I look in the

contact lenses. This is an inconvenient thing in my morning. I really envy people who do not
have to wear lenses or glasses. I can not do anything without them. I go back my room again, and
then I change clothes from pajama. As I return to the kitchen, the good smell of coffee fills it.
Now, the coffee is ready to be drunk. When I go out to smoke with a cup of coffee, I see that a
few students leave their rooms for classes. I am always curious when the other students wake up.
I am sure that I get up much later than students who take class at nine thirty do. I need to change
my lifestyle and wake up earlier eight thirty at the latest. During smoking, this is the only time
that I can relax in the morning. I find two fliers on the wall. One of the two reads ?SNOW

Fashion Illustration Essay
Illustration is an art that allows to create an amazing aesthetics that is hard to remake or achieve
with the same aesthetic value using digital technologies or photography because of the emotional
atmosphere, transfer of mood of the work of art and detailed visualization of images. The term
illustration itself has a several meanings, but the most known is art design . In the past, illustration
due to its characteristics been only associated with books and magazines as a support for a text.
However, as the time passed illustration became an individual type of art that no longer need to
play a supporting role for anything. This evolution leads illustration forward to the division of a
broader term into narrower subtopics, which introduced the creation of fashionillustration. From
that point, it was clear that fashion illustration is one of the oldest and most important movements
in the history of illustration. Through the time, it has always had a touch with graphic design and
fine arts, it has an undeniable influence on fashion and vice versa. Right now, it is possible to

Essay On Water Pollution
Chapter One
The Problem and Its Setting
Water is essential to life. It provides an efficient way to transfer substances from a cell to the cell
s environment. Which is why there is usually no positive impacts when referring to water
pollution as it is a major global problem. Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies. It
exist as a result of harmful substances being inserted into water bodies whether purposely or
accidently. When observed it has an affect on the entire ecological system, and most occurrences
negatively impact whole species as it is the leading cause of death and disease. On account of
water being an vital component of life on Earth, if it is indeed contaminated, it will deplete the
health of the plant and every living thing on it.
Background of the Study
Water pollution can affect the macroinvertebrates that live in the water and they can become
contaminated. When the consumption of influenced macroinvertebrates occur and travel
throughout the food chain based around the body of water, toxins that contaminated the supply are
now spread. The water quality can determine which type of macroinvertebrates inhabit the bodies of
water because there are pollution sensitive and pollution tolerant macroinvertebrates. If the bodies
of water are only inhabited by pollution tolerant macroinvertebrate that suggest that the water is
highly contaminate and those are the only macroinvertebrates that can survive there. Although, if

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Organizational Change Model
2.3 The Organizational Change
The organizational change is the movement of an organization away from its present state and
toward some desired future state to increase its effectiveness. There are some popular models.
According to the environment and people the leader has to choose the type of the model. These
models have some advantages and disadvantages. In each model these advantages and
disadvantages will be stated at the end of the concept of the model. These models are:

2)The neutral zone phase can be described as: It is the bridge between the old and the new. The
personnel or staff will still be attached to the old system while trying to adapt to the new one. They

3)The new beginning phase can be described as: It is the time or moment of acceptance and when

Evaluating A Nursing Care Plan
As a nurse, one must be aware of the Activities of Living (AoL), assessment methods and
understand how to formulate a Nursing Care Plan (NCP). When tending to a patient, it is
important to understand the AoL as well recognising how they are affecting the patient, how to
assess one s condition and what care needs are priority when treating a patients symptoms. By
having this knowledge a nurse is able to develop a NCP more easily, therefore give the patient a
greater quality of care. When creating a NCP, one must assess, set goals, plan, implement and
evaluate the measures taken as well as incorporate a multi disciplinary team, to ensure the patient
receives the best care possible. (Holland et al. 2015, p.2), (Doenges, ME, Moorhouse, MF, Geissler

All together, Parameswaran s article is well researched as she refers to a variety of sources as she
transitions from one topic to the next. She cites information from many different sources to support
her overall stance but sometimes uses too many quotations. Although there is not a rule about how
many sources one should use in their academic writing, one can argue that Parameswaran s article
is mostly composed of source information, rather than composing her stance with her own voice.
Because the use of sources is overpowering, her writing becomes overwhelming for readers because
they are not getting the author s point of view on the issue. Parameswaran states that as students
learn about issues of discrimination, they begin to reexamine their values. At times, the
reexamination leads students who belong to dominant groups to feel guilty and accuse people who
belong to underrepresented groups of reverse racism (qtd. in Parameswaran 5). An example of a
source Parameswaran overuses is information from Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum, a psychologist and
author who focuses on race in education, and expands on reverse racism. Tautm s book discusses
how students learn about Whites who were and/or are racists. Parameswaran reiterates Tatum s
ideas by stating that most students can name people who hold racist values, but cannot recall any
White individuals who fought against racial prejudice. According to Tatum, this is one reason that

Importance of Grammar Essay
A.Introduction
It is not uncommon to say that grammar instruction plays an important role in language teaching.
Regarding the status and importance of grammar teaching, a variety of opinions have been made.
Batstone (1994) states that language without grammar would be chaotic: countless words without
the indispensable guidelines for how they can be ordered and modified (p. 4). More vividly, Wang
(2010) makes two similes. She compares grammar to the frame of a house, which is a decisive
factor to ensure the solidness of it. Additionally, she regards grammar as a walking stick, whose
function is to help and support students to learn English. Thus, the nature of grammar instruction
manifests its own significance as it helps students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

B.Evaluation of Miss Wong s TeachingApproach
B(1). Teaching philosophy
It is teachers beliefs rather than their knowledge that have a greater influence on their instruction
(William Burden, 2000). Meighan suggests seven kinks of teachers beliefs about learners: resisters,
receptacles, raw materials, clients, partners, individual explorers and democratic explorers. Unlike
the first three concepts which focus on teachers, the last four require learners active involvement
(as cited in William Burden, 2000). In Miss Wong s teaching approach, a PPP model (i.e.,
Presentation, Practice and Production) is generally adopted. She firstly presents target grammatical
structure of passive voice. Then students do some exercises along with teacher s answer checking.
However, it seems the final production step is omitted, resulting in students lacking opportunities to
apply the knowledge into other contexts. From her instruction, we can see Miss Wong tends to
regard her students as receptacles that are required to absorb the items she transmits. What the
instruction concerns is whether students can transform sentences from active to passive or vice
verse from a structural level, which is a typical example of a

Looking For Alibrandi Theme Essay
The only journey is the one within. (Rainer Maria Rilke) Why do teenagers love novels on the
adolescent mind or the coming of age story or an individual finding their way you may ask? The
only thing in common in all these different themes is relatability to every one of those teenagers.
Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchettathe recipient of The Children s Book of the Year and the
Bilby Award; the relatable story of Josie a seventeen year old as she goes on her path of self
discovery in her final year of school. As Marchetta asks the questions of Who am I? Where am
I? Where am, I going? How do I get there? Her inquisition are the questions that all teenagers ask
in their journey to find their way like Josie as she looks for Alibrandi or herself.
Marchetta uses her Italian heritage to capture the effects of ethnicity, pressure, familyissues and

Positive And Negative Effects Of GM Crops
Genetically Modified, or GM, crops were first designed in the mid late 1900 s when the idea to
create DNA emerged. They have proven to be genetically resistant to many diseases, leading to
greater yields of crops and less manual labor. Approximately 150 million hectares of land are
currently being used solely for GM plants. Farmer profits have increased by 66% and crop yields
have increased by 22%. With this success rate, it might be difficult to see the negative effects of
increasing the prevalence of GM Crops throughout the world and in the food supply. Although GM
plants have increased the international food supply and made the process of farming more efficient,
GM crops have actually decreased the biodiversity present in the world, harming the environment
they inhabit and the society that depends on them. Many developing countries have have actively
introduced GM plants into their agricultural sphere while many others are skeptical. Other countries
are divided; though their government may approve of the use of GMO s , many groups within the
nation are in opposition for adopting them. The issue about the use of GM crops continues to
remain a national issue, with each country being responsible for addressing it for their own
individual nation and citizens. In the past, the United Nations has established agencies, such as the
Food and AgricultureOrganization (FAO), to help research and address the development of
biotechnology for the agricultural sector in rural areas.

Compare And Contrast Hamal And Hildegarn

very young ages. Some of these women grew to be just mothers and wife s, while others became

great examples of such women in history. Hildegarn and Gluckel both grew up as any other
normal little girl. Until the day everything changed when they were given away. Hildegarn was
eight years old when she was turned over to an abbey in the Rhineland to be cared for. Gluckel
was at the age of almost fourteen years when her father betrothed her to be married to Chayim
Hameln. At the age of fourteen, she married him and started her family. Hildegarn grew up
learning Latin and receiving a good education. While she was a child, she started to have mystical

History of Reverb and Echo in Audio Production Recording...
History of Reverb and Echo in Audio Production Recording Natural occurring reverb goes further
back than man on earth. Since before man, creatures and nature made sounds that created natural
reverb and echo. But now in today s age with men and the modern technology that they have
created there are all sorts of ways to create reverb and echo. From big metal sheets to plug ins in a
DAW on a computer, engineers have found ways to incorporate and benefit from reverb and
echo on a recorded audio track. But before skipping into today s ways of recording reverb and echo
let s shed some light on what reverb and echo truly is and where it came from. Reverberationor as
most people refer to it as reverb, refers to the way sound waves reflects of... Show more content on

A reverb chamber is a hollow arena used to create echoing sounds. Building a room with non
parallel surfaces and then applying shellac to all the surfaces so make them acoustically
reflective creates an echo/reverb chamber. A speaker and microphones in the room would pick
up the reflection of the speakers output this method was very popular in the 60 s. Soon enough
a new technology of reverb came about, Spring reverb. Sam Phillips of Sun Records had used
tape echo when recording Elvis in the early days. Spring reverb is a type of electromechanical
reverb device. It creates a reverb effect by inducing sound vibrations at one end of a long wire
(which is coiled into a spring to decrease the amount of area it takes up, that s why it is called
spring reverb). Another transducer at the extreme end picks up the vibrations. As the waves
reflect back and forth from one end of the spring to the other, and back, a reverb effect is
produced. Spring reverbs have a harsh, trebly sound (and vulnerable to exterior shock), but they
are inexpensive to build and provided a new way for reverb. Eventually the technology became
more advanced and a new form of reverb was created; plate reverb changed the reverb game in
1957 when German company EMT (Elektromesstecknik) released the first plate reverb, EMT 140
Reverberation Unit. This plate reverb system used an electromechanical transducer to create
vibration in a large plate of

Undoubtedly, there are many concerns over global warming, which is largely con tributed to the

Martin Luther And John Calvin Essay
The Renaissance was a time where individuals questioned numerous aspects of European culture
and society, which have collectively broadened the worldview from medieval to modern. As such, a
new wave of theological thinking emerged from the dissent of the late Medieval church, and this is
commonly known as the Reformation. Martin Luther is often credited as the Great Man whose
Ninety Five Thesis a provocative set of questions targeting the Church set in motion the pivotal
process of religious change, known as Protestantism. The radical change from medieval Christianity
to modern Christianity is often confined to the ideas of two important men: Martin Luther and John
Calvin. It is also important to note the vastness of time that the Renaissance dominated compared to
the short period within 1517 to 1559 that these two reformers lived. Yet without them, without the
challenging and convincing religious arguments and questions they put forward justification by
faith alone, the doctrine of double predestination the religious change as seen in the sixteenth
century, as well as even the name of the movement could ve been very different.
In the year 1509, the year in which John Calvin was born, Martin Luther had already begun
spreading his teachings. By the age of eight, Martin Luther had publicized his Ninety Five Thesis
and the German Reformation had already seen the culmination of Luther s teachers and influence.
During the time of Calvin s first published book, Luther

Classroom Management Strategies For High School Teachers
Six Classroom Management Strategies for High School Teachers
(Without Good Classroom Management a Teacher Loses Control)
One of the biggest keys to being a successful teacher is classroom management. Of course, there are
different needs depending on if you teach kindergartners or high school auto shop students, and
every teacher has his or her own individual style. A constant through out all classrooms is this,
without good classroom management, a teacher loses control. Once you lose control of the
classroom the amount of actual teaching and learning diminishes to almost nothing.
I am by nature not a strong disciplinarian and like to be relaxed and fun with my class. I will
never be known as that mean teacher . I am the teacher students think they can get away with
mischief in class, and in my early years, they did get away with a lot. I will never be up to the
level of one of my colleagues, who has been teaching high school English for almost 40 years. She
is a wonderful woman who can even scare other teachers during staff meetings if they were to talk
or fidget.
I have however, over the years been able to find ways to combine my somewhat easygoing
personality with some constant classroom rules and ideas to maintain a good learning atmosphere.
Here is a simple list of six suggestions I think most teachers will agree with and should use.
1) Over plan each day You need to keep students busy working or listening. If you have a dead time
at the end of your class, it can be

Personal Development and Reflective Reasoning in Nursing...
Maybe reflective practices offer us a way of trying to make sense of the uncertainty in our
workplaces and the courage to work competently and ethically at the edge of order and chaos...
(Ghaye, 2000, p.7)
In order to fully understand the personal development and reflective reasoning in relation to your
development in the Nursing field, one will have to define these two terminologies. Personal
development means to include activities that improve awareness, can develop potential that will
ultimately enhance the quality of life. Medical colleges advocate personal development plans as a
basis for continuing professional development. Whereas, reflective reasoning is where a nurse can

To be able to reflect one must step outside the experience in order to make the observance
comprehendible Gray (1998). To do this, one must have motivation. When speaking of motivation,
task variety and participation allows each member of the team to use different skills as well as
rotating the less desirable tasks giving a cohesive feeling to the team while motivating them. Bowen
and Lawler (1992), argue practices that empower such as providing organizational information to
employee, bureaucratic control reduction and increased self power all helps to increase employee
motivation. French and Raven (1959) add that motivation is a characteristic that makes one want to
do or carryout a task willingly without being directed.
Leadership is an important role in life and an even more important role in the success of a nurse.
To be a leader one must be creative. Creativity results from engaging in surroundings to seek new
possibilities. For the best outcome of reflection, and the use of creativity, one should be as
impulsive as possible in recording thoughts and feelings. Efficient clinical leaders are supposed to
able to help others to see and understand situations from various outlooks and effective clinical
nurse leaders must be willing to look for new ways of doing things. One theory that can be readily

Coyotes In City Analysis
Coyotes Create Chaos In City Coyotes have been an issue in Southern California for decades
now, specifically in the city of La Habra. An uprise in coyote attacks over the last few years has
finally brought the attention of the city council. Coyotes going into residential areas and attacking
pets is becoming more common. La Habra pet owners are leaving pet food and garbage outside at
night which tends to attract the coyotes into residential areas. In order to stop coyotes from
coming into residential areas and the attacks on pets, any food source the coyotes might want

17 September 2017 Houstonians A poem written by South Carolina pastor, Jeremy Rutledge has
given readers a lot to think about. The poem was composed after the great Hurricane Harvey
tragedy in Houston. In his poem Rutledge mentions the word pray many times but the meaning of it
goes way beyond that. When praying for something it is important to know the aspects and
struggles of it, and that is exactly what Rutledge is doing in this poem, stating all the things that
make Houston unique, diverse, and capable to rise from it all. Throughout the entire poem
Rutledge suggests just how diverse Houston is. For instance, the lines, pray like you re sitting

Abstract Of Cyclic Voltammograms
Fig. 3. Cyclic voltammograms (A) and Nyquist plots (B) recorded at bare GCE (a), ОІ Ni(OH)2

. Inset of Fig. 3B: Equivalent circuit applied to fit impedance measurements, where: Rs is the
resistance of electrolyte solution; Rct is the charge transfer resistance, W is warburg impedance and
CPE is constant phase element.
3.5.Electrocatalytic oxidation of nitrite on the modified electrode
The electrocatalytic activity of the ОІ Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE toward nitrite was studied by recording
cyclic voltammograms from the range of potential 0.3 to 1.1 V in the absence (a) and presence (d)
of 100 ОјM nitrite, and compared with other different electrodes such as ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE and
bare GCE. As can be seen from Fig. 4, there is no well defined peak on bare GCE, which may be
due to the sluggish electron transfer process in GCE. At ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE, the weak peak appears
at 0.96 V related to oxidation process of NO2в€’ to NO3в€’ according to the following reaction:
NO2в€’ + H2O NO3в€’ + 2H+ + 2eв€’(8)
In addition, no evidence of peaks was found at ОІ Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE in the absence of nitrite,
while after adding 100 ВµM nitrite into the phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0), an obvious
irreversible oxidation peak at about 0.82 V is observed (curve d), which is 140 mV negatively
shifted compared with ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE. Furthermore, the oxidation peak current on ОІ
Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE is larger than that on ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE. This indicated that the large effective
area of electrode resulting from high conductivity and high surface area of CDs, as well as the
synergistic effects of ОІ Ni(OH)2 and CDs improve the catalytic behavior toward the oxidation of
nitrite.Fig. 4. cyclic voltammograms (CVs) of the bare GCE (b), ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE (c), and ОІ

0.1 M phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0) at the scan rate of 50 mV sв€’1.
Effect of pH solution
The effects of the solution pH on the peak current and potential for nitrite oxidation using ОІ
Ni(OH)2/CDs/GC electrode were investigated by 0.1 mol lв€’1 phosphate buffer in the pH range
of 1 10. As shown in Fig. S2, the current responses

Irony in Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown Essay examples
Irony in Young Goodman Brown Nathaniel Hawthorne s tale Young Goodman Brown is replete,
is saturated, with irony. This essay will amply illustrate the validity of this statement. At the outset
of the story a young Puritan husband departs at sunset from his young Puritan wife, And Faith, as
the wife was aptly named, thrust her own pretty head into the street, letting the wind play with the
pink ribbons of her cap, while she called to Goodman Brown. The author says that Faith is aptly
named, an ironic statement since she, later in the evening, is being received into the assembly of
devil worshippers as a new convert to the evil group. Not only is her name ironic, but also the
description of her as pretty, and as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That he should criticize Faith in the very next sentence for doubting his intentions is, of course,
ironic since his intentions are thoroughly reprehensible. Though she is a beginning devil
worshipper, Faith s response to her husband uses the very language of a Puritan minister: Then
God bless you! said Faith, with the pink ribbons, and may you find all well, when you come
back. Quite ironic. Likewise Goodman s response to Faith is that of a devout Puritan sitting in
the front row at church on Sunday morning: Amen! cried Goodman Brown. Say thy prayers, dear
Faith, and go to bed at dusk, and no harm will come to thee. And his intentions are quite as evil as
hers. As Goodman turns the corner at the meeting house, his remorseful thoughts exalt the
goodness of his wife: What a wretch am I, to leave her on such an errand! She talks of dreams,
too. Methought, as she spoke, there was trouble in her face, as if a dream had warned her what
work is to be done tonight. But, no, no! twould kill her to think it. Well; she s a blessed angel on
earth; and after this one night, I ll cling to her skirts and follow her to Heaven. Ironically, Goodman
regards her goodness as unimpeachable and sublime. In the next sentence the author counterposes a
good at the beginning of the sentence, and an evil at the end of the same sentence for ironic effect:
With this excellent resolve for the future, Goodman Brown felt himself

The Importance Of Standing Up And Face Your Beliefs
Stand up and face your fears, or they will defeat you, once said LL Cool J. Unequivocally, this is
extremely accurate, and one can name many events that pertain to this topic. Personally, I
believe that it is important to speak your beliefs and share your opinions. One reason is that
many opportunities are lost is due to the fact that people choose not to speak up. Many avoid
speaking up because of peer pressure and the desire of fitting in. They are fearful of being judged
if they choose or believe the wrong thing. At times, the average population thinks it is better to keep
quiet; although, in reality, it can bring significant consequences by not communicating. It does take
courage to speak up, but half if not most of the time it leads to positive outcomes. It is imperative
to stand for your beliefs because it can make a difference whether it is minute or substantial.... Show

By standing up for ourselves and sharing our opinions, we also build up self confidence. While
building up our inner strength, we motivate other people to speak up and not be as afraid to
stand up for what they believe in. It builds character in you and others around you. After one
person expresses their beliefs, it happens to rub off on others and has a domino effect. Once an
abundance of individuals share their opinion on a certain topic, they can take a vote and see what
the majority wants. However, if no one were to take a vote on what they believe is better, then we
would remain in the same position we started with. We would never progress, and our world would

African-American History Research Paper
:
Question 1: Utilizing specific examples from both books, explain how the actions of African
Americans damaged the institution of slavery and ultimately led to its demise.
African Americans damages the institute of slavery by escaping and participating in rebellions.
On average, 1,000 slaves escaped per year. They wanted freedom so bad that they took the
chance of being caught and whipped by their masters. Harriet Tubman was a slave who ran away
and returned to plantations several times to rescue the rest of her family, as well as other slaves. It
is said that she returned nineteen times and rescued more than 300 slaves. (Kelley and Lewis 2005,
194) The Underground Railroad also contributed to the damaging of the institution of ... Show more

Question 3: While Nash argues that many colonial Americans supported the idea of ending slavery,
he suggests that there were a few major challenges to making this a reality. What were these
challenges and what suggestions did abolitionists make to overcome these challenges? Be sure to
include specific plans for ending slavery such as can be found in chapter 1 and 2 of Race and
Revolution and sources such as can be found on pages 146 165 of that book.
The two major challenges of abolishing slavery were economic and social. The first was
economic; how would slaveowners be compensated? The second was social: how would freed
slaves be fit into the social fabric of the new nation? (Nash 2001, 35) In 1790, the Quakers and
the Pennsylvania Abolition Society, known as the Foster Committee, got together and petitioned
Congress to use their powers to end slavery. The petitions arrived shortly after Congress had
taken up Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton s Report on Public Credit, which proposed
that the federal government assume and fund the Revolutionary War debts of the states. (Nash
2001 38) The Foster committee specified how inhumane slavery was and how everyone deserved
to be free; despite the color of their skin. The Southerners defended slavery, stating the slave trade
rescued blacks from African savagery. They also stated how Congress was unable to emancipate
slavery until 1808. The support from the

Genome Manipulation Essay
Targeted genome editing technology is an area of great attention for biomedical research fields,
as it has potential in clinical applications to cure or improve some genetic diseases. In particular,
the case of genome manipulation has been revolutionized by the development of the CRISPR/Cas
9 system. Despite recent advances in editing targeted genes inside of cultured cells, in vivo
targeted transgene integrations are still out of reach, because of current tools. Principally, this
applies to nondividing cells, which are made up of adult tissues, including the brain, eyes, ears, and
pancreas, and halts the development of treatments for a broad range of genetic disorders. Now,
scientists have discovered a new approach that not only works in... Show more content on

They improved the NHEJ machinery to collaborate with the CRISPR system, allowing DNA to be
inserted at precise locations in the genome, and then inserted an inert virus to deliver HITI s
package of genetic instructions to neurons derived from human embryonic stem cells (...). The
innovation allows the cells to glue the ends of cut targeted DNA back together, with the extra
addition of the DNA template in between the cut targeted DNA, via NHEJ. In the case of the cellre
joining without the added insertion or mutation, the CRISPR system would reform and repeat the
process. Likewise, donor DNA was designed to recreate the cut site, for the situation of the insertion
gluing back together in the wrong orientation.
(CDB, 2017, Scheme of HITI method)
Before HITI, recent techniques in the area of gene editing were focused on using a natural DNA
repair pathway, called homology directed repair (HDR). These systems are targeted at dividing
cells, such as the skin, but has been proven to be ineffective in nondividing cells, and therefore
inefficient to provide solutions to genetic disorders in adult tissue. However, the non homologous
end joining (NHEJ) pathway is an additional natural DNA repair pathway, which is typically
unused in gene insertion, as studies have shown that NHEJ is error prone when used to turn off
targeted genes (...). Yet, when used in insertion of DNA sequences in a gene, NHEJ is highly
precise, and more

Roy s Narrative Analysis
Roy s Perspective:
The only way we can track down that serial killer is to split up. I announced. My soldiers, 1st
Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye, 2nd Lieutenant Jean Havoc, and Alphonse Elric were helping track
down Barry the Chopper. He s committed many murders by chopping up his victims with a butcher
knife, I guess you could say that s how he got his name.
Yes, Sir. replied Riza. Her and Alphonse started to walk down the dreary tunnel in the opposite
direction. We were underneath laboratory five, originally looking for something Barry had lost.
Barry s soul was attached to a suit of armor, and he was used as an immortal slave. When he
caught sight of his original body, he quickly realized there was a soul of another creature inside it.

losing grasp on her life. Finally, her body started breaking off into specs of nothing.
You ve finally done it, you killed me. I hate losing, even if there are better ways to die at the hands
of a man like you. Roy s cold black eyes stared at her, emotionless. I like your eyes, I can t wait for

Please sir, worry about yourself for once! We need to get you to a hospital, fast. I could still feel

Comparing Dorian Gray And Frankenstein
The Picture of Dorian Gray and Frankenstein connect the ideas of man and monster through
representation of characters who influence a monster and characters who are the physical distorted
monster. Both Dorian Gray and the creation are the physical monsters that are involved with
murder and sin. These are the ones hated by other characters in their respected stories. Lord Henry
and Victor Frankensteinare the characters who create the monsters. While Lord Henry does it from
a psychological standpoint whereas Victor did it from a physical standpoint in physically creating a

That is until Mary Shelley switches the attention to the monster when he narrates the events of
his life. Readers are supposed to believe that Victor s creation is the true monster, but once the
creation gives his life story Shelley has her readers turn on Victor victimizing him as the true
monster in the novel. The true monster is described to be the one that causes harm to humanity
by lying and selfishness.Victor carries both of these traits once the monster is created. He lies
to protect himself I well knew that if any other had communicated such a relation to me, I should
have looked upon it as the ravings of insanity . . . These reflections determined me, and I
resolved to remain silent. (Shelley 79). The decision to keep the true information of what had
happened to his brother William resulted in the death of Justine which makes Victor a cause for
her death. This idea is a very selfish act in order to protect himself from being viewed insane by
his peers if he was to tell the whole story. Victor abandons his creation which turns out to be the
worst possible thing he could have done. Victor allows the monster to roam the lands where
humans preside when abandoning him which allows his creation to learn why he was created and
what he was. He inflicts harm and death on Victor s loved ones because of his evil acts in creating
the monster as well as

Social Security Policy Analysis
In order for a policy to be considered good it must meet criteria that deems it fit for that category,
whatever that may be. A policy could be good in terms of it affecting people positively, addressing
a problem, or by creating a jumpstart for change. Due to different standards on what is good, a
policyI think is great for people could be thought of as awful by the next person. Also, a category
I believe is important and needs reform could be one that is unimportant to others. From this we
must individually decide for ourselves what qualifications we will set so that a policy can be
crowned good. For me, a policy can be considered good if it brings more good than bad to all
people (equality under the policy), has the people s best interest in mind (especially... Show more

Finding a policy that fits each of these standards is difficult and may not even be possible.
However, I believe the best example policy to show for all categories is Social Security. Through
Social Security there have been many policies expanded in order to reach a variety of different
people and needs. Within the Social Security website it mentions the policies history and who it
originally targeted in 1935 when first created by stating, this Act provided for unemployment
insurance, old age insurance, and means tested welfare programs. (Patricia Martin David Weaver,
Social Security: A Program and Policy History. ) From this, it shows that multiple groups were
kept in mind in attempt to include all those in need. Even better, there has since been more
categories added under Social Security that include Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Food
and Nutrition Assistance, Veterans Assistance, and many others. By doing this, equality under the
policy is provided because there are programs created for different situations. The creation of all
these policies could also transition into the idea that it keeps the people s best interest in mind.

society changes, a genrechanges with it. One can observe what was once important to society and
what interested society using the genres that were popular at a specific point in history. The

that was common during the 40s and 50s. Film noirs are black and white melodramas that use

these are not Achenbach s true feelings for Tadzio. He has fallen hopelessly in love with Tadzio

stunning physical beauty that the boy possesses. But, Aschenbach s inner Dionysian qualities are
coming forward and he is experiencing emotions that he has never experienced before. These
powerful new emotions are making him do things he would not normally do. It may have been
that [Aschenbach] did not wish to return to reality, that he was too much in love with his own

Evil Dead Reflection
One Friday, September 29, 2017, I visited the City Theatre (inside Hockeytown CafГ©) to watch
Evil Dead: The Musical written by George Reinblatt and presented by Olympia Entertainment
and Sweat Equity Studio. When I first arrived, I was greeted by the Usher who gave me a
program. In the Program, there is a bolded section with the name and title of those that made the
production possible. The director for this play was Jamie Warron, and the music director was
Timothy Martuch. In the second and third page of the program is a section called Who s Who ,
which serves the purpose giving a brief description of the crew involved and their titles. In class
we looked at some of the job duties for those involved in a play, and this can relate to that
description of each job and individual. Evil Dead is about four college students who go on a trip
for spring break to an abandoned cabin in the woods. There they find a book that helps them
release some sort of evil spirit. Each of them start to get attacked by this evil spirit and killing
one by one. In the performance that I witnessed, the story was told in a comedic way compared
to the Evil Dead film, which is more of a scarier and serious form of the story. To me, the play
seemed to have two themes, perseverance and good versus evil. Perseverance to survive from the
evil being who wanted to kill all of them. One of the characters cut his arm off in order to not
allow the evil spirit to take control over him. To me, the purpose of the

Cpu Is The Best For Your Requirements
The History of CPU s
CPU s have come a long way over the past years. They have developed special features to become
more reliable, and faster. Normally we think of the CPU as the brains of the computer, and that s
true, but they are also much more than that. They provide the computer with the ability to perform
many special tasks, and contain many special features. They can range from very high end
processors, to those who are lower end without all of the speed and features. When choosing a
CPU, it is always important to do research to determine which CPU is the best for your
requirements. Without a CPU, the computer would not be able to function.
History of CPU s
The first computer was the ENIAC, and it was a monstrous computer. It was the size of a whole
room, and was very complicated. It contained over 17,000 vacuum tubes, it consumed over 150
kilowatts of power, and it also weighed as much as fifteen large cars. The ENIAC used punch cards
to store data. There was no sound output, video output, or long term memory. Even though this
computer was huge and ugly, it was still extremely advanced for its time. This computer was the
thing that sparked the idea of a Central Processing Unit.
The first CPU ever created was the Intel 4004. It was introduced on November 15, 1971. It was
created after Intel s Ted Hoff discovered that the new technology of silicon gated MOS could
possibly create a single chip CPU. Frederico Faggin, Ted Hoff, and Stanley Mazor worked together
to create

  • 2. Bilingualism in the Classroom It s never too early to start. This sentence may seem familiar, uttered by parents as they encourage their children to begin piano lessons or go to junior basketball camps. Whatever the situation, it seems as though starting to learn early affords a child some sort of advantage. It can most likely be assumed that this quasi proverb translates to language as well: a language that is learned and used regularly from a young age is probably better ingrained into the mind of its user than one learned late and used sporadically. It has been made evident through research by Bialystok, Craik, and Luk that there are immense neurological advantages that come from bilingualism. Also, as stated by Martha Nussbaum, proficiency in more than one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is extremely important to encourage children to see the world on a large scale from many perspectives, because the future of society will depend on it. If young people are able to see themselves as not simply citizens of some local region or group but also, and above all, as human beings bound to all other human beings by ties of recognition and concern (Nussbaum, 1998), they will be more open minded and willing to accept diversity among people. Learning a language requires a person to really delve into a culture, to understand how and why the people of that culture communicate in such ways. Although learning a language is not equivalent to living in a culture, the former can undoubtedly afford some insight into the latter. For example, whereas in English we have very few words for snow and ice, in the Saami language, spoken in Scandinavia, there exist several specific words for different types of snow and situations in which snow and ice appear (Magga, 2006). To understand why, it requires exploring the culture of Saami language speakers. It becomes clear, upon investigation, that knowledge of snow and ice conditions [are] a necessity for subsistence and survival in the arctic and sub arctic areas, where the Saami language is spoken (Magga, 2006). This aspect of life is made evident through the language; without even being immersed in the culture it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Arundel Partners Case Analysis Essay spootyhead Apr 17, 2007 Arundel Partners Case Analysis Arundel Partners Case Analysis Executive Summary: A group of investors (Arundel group) is looking into the idea of purchasing the sequel rights associated with films produced by one or more major movie studios. Movie rights are to be purchased prior to films being made. Arundel wants to come up with a decision to either purchase all the sequel rights for a studio s entire production during a specified period of time or purchase a specified number of major films. Arundel s profitability is dependent upon the price it pays for a portfolio of sequel rights. Our analysis of Arundel s proposal includes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... More data on success probabilities may help to direct the course of action We would also like to have information about the willingness of production companies to sell sequel rights at a pre negotiated price. Action Plan: Given our analysis of the motion picture industry, we recommend that Arundel carefully select the major film studios from which they intend to purchase sequel rights. The net present value of hypothetical sequels taken from the available previous years shows not only that the industry is highly volatile, but also that certain production studios are more volatile than others in terms of their recent performance. In addition, some studios are consistently less profitable than others. (See NPV for Each Production Company chart in appendix) Since the success of film studios are relatively stable in the short term (see Rental Shares of Major Film Distributors table and graph) Because of this stability, it is possible for Arundel to approach more profitable studios with their offer to purchase sequel rights. Out of all the major film studios, only MCA Universal, Warner Bros., and The Walt Disney Company generate a positive net present value on a per film basis. However, according to casual inquiries, it is unlikely that any movie studio would enter negotiations with Arundel on a per film price that is less than 1 million. Instead, the film studios seem to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gay Fm History First broadcast at midnight on Sunday 2nd September 1990, Gay FM began life after the board of 4CCR accepted a 3 page submission for the programme, including 100 signatures in support, and an example of the gay news items to be used in the show. Arriving in Cairns from Sydney a few weeks before, with some experience presenting Sydney s Wild G.A.L.S. (Gay and Lesbian Show), Terry Barrie put together the submission and became host of the show. Allocated a challenging time slot, starting at midnight Sunday, the show filled two hours, though after 5 successful years, in 1995 the board agreed to a 3 hour show at the more accessible time of 9 PM. With occasional music specials, and the banter bouncing back and forth between the two presenters, the new light hearted approach won many fans, and much of the show ended up taken up by callers, some of whom became regular characters in the fun format. • 5. Dendrite Vs Neuron In our human brains, there are about one billion nerve cells, called neurons. They transport information from one part of the brain to the other part of the brain. Which mean neurons are passing signals to other neurons. Because of this system, we are able to have thoughts, memories and moods. Neurons have numerous branches, called dendrite. There are branching like fibers helps to receive information and pass it to other cells. Then on to the axon. Comparing to dendrite, axon is a lot longer and it takes the information away from the cell body. Each neuronhas only one axon but like dendrite, it has a lot of branches. White people already didn t think much of us. It took place in a small town in South Carolina called Catfish Row. The apartments sat close to a beach. Throughout the play, there was plenty of ways that portrayed African Americanin a negative way. Porgy and Bess is the epitome of how Caucasians thought of African Americans and the way we live. Throughout my paper I m going to express how white people judged African Americans, Where did Porgy and Bess come from, and The names of the characters and how degrading the authors are making African Americans out to be. This is cause by media such as internet and TV because they create comparisons by influencing in an individual s viewpoints of society and setting ideals. Mother s roles in society are and have been watched at as responsible for the development of their children. If these requirements are not fit by mothers they are looked negatively upon society. Room is an independent drama feminist film based on Emma Donoghue novel and is directed by Lenny Abramson in 2015 that changes society s ideals of women as mothers. The film narrates Ma s story of being captive in a room that only have skylight, four walls, a bed, a tub, and a TV with poor signal with her son Jack, a child of rape. After seven years, Jack being five, they are able to escape and Ma s readjustment to society story begin. Through specific choices in cinematography, Abramson creates a feminist film that contradict the ideals of mothers in film and plays with Ma s strength making her a strong mother while being captive in room and transforming her into a weak mother when she readjust to society. Strength, sacrifice and love is an embodiment of mother. She should always know how much she is worth and shouldn t let anyone define who she is. A mother s feminine power is very powerful and at the same time supportive. Till their last breath, they will love their child unconditionally. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The pexiglass was placed over laminated pieces of sintra or plywood to create the signs. The signage and wall text was mostly white with boarders of the section s theme colorand the texts in black. Many of the signs and wall pieces had objects (gears, headphone, and cystoscopes) printed into paper behind the pexiglass. The additional color used for signage and wall text where white with black text which made it easier for the guest to read in the low lighting. The color orange is associated with creativity, change and determination. In the story A Day s Wait it says, I read aloud from Howard Pyle s Book of Pirates; but I could see he was not following what I was reading, (Hemingway 300 301). This quote shows that Schatz s father read to Schatz even though Schatz was not following along. On the contrary, the boy from Stolen Day wants more attention from his mother. In the story Stolen day it says, She was pretty busy that day and hadn t paid much attention to me. She had made me get into bed upstairs and then hadn t even come up to see how I was, (Anderson 307). This quote shows the boy wanted more attention from his mother, because he said his mother had not paid attention to him. Another difference between the two stories is Schatz was truly sick while the boy was not. The doctor came to Schatz s house and gave him medicine so he would get better. • 12. Theories Of Development And Development Influence Human... As our society continues to expand and develop, it is often wondered who exactly figured out how people develop and learn. Dating back to the 1800s, numerous different theorists have researched and experimented to interpret learning and development. Some major theorists that are incorporated with theories of development include Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, and Erik Erikson. Along with the theories of development, there are theories of learning. The four main theories include cognitive, constructivism, social cognitive, and situative. First and foremost, Jean Piaget can be considered a pioneer in psychology. His theory is considered one of the most influential and comprehensive theories of cognitive development. This theory focuses on how nature and development influence human intelligence. Piaget also describes how crucial a child s environment is when the child is maturing and interacting with changes throughout their life. Different life changes can teach a child right or wrong, cause and effect, and a comprehensive learning about how time and space work. In Piaget s theory, he discusses the four stages to cognitive development: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. The sensorimotor stage is how a child orients himself with the constant physical movements and actions along with a corresponding stimulus representing the same thing. Therefore, a child is only aware of something that is right in front of them. For example, the constant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Evaluating A Nursing Care Plan As a nurse, one must be aware of the Activities of Living (AoL), assessment methods and understand how to formulate a Nursing Care Plan (NCP). When tending to a patient, it is important to understand the AoL as well recognising how they are affecting the patient, how to assess one s condition and what care needs are priority when treating a patients symptoms. By having this knowledge a nurse is able to develop a NCP more easily, therefore give the patient a greater quality of care. When creating a NCP, one must assess, set goals, plan, implement and evaluate the measures taken as well as incorporate a multi disciplinary team, to ensure the patient receives the best care possible. All together, Parameswaran s article is well researched as she refers to a variety of sources as she transitions from one topic to the next. She cites information from many different sources to support her overall stance but sometimes uses too many quotations. Although there is not a rule about how many sources one should use in their academic writing, one can argue that Parameswaran s article is mostly composed of source information, rather than composing her stance with her own voice. Because the use of sources is overpowering, her writing becomes overwhelming for readers because they are not getting the author s point of view on the issue. Parameswaran states that as students learn about issues of discrimination, they begin to reexamine their values. At times, the reexamination leads students who belong to dominant groups to feel guilty and accuse people who belong to underrepresented groups of reverse racism (qtd. in Parameswaran 5). An example of a source Parameswaran overuses is information from Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum, a psychologist and author who focuses on race in education, and expands on reverse racism. Tautm s book discusses how students learn about Whites who were and/or are racists. Parameswaran reiterates Tatum s ideas by stating that most students can name people who hold racist values, but cannot recall any White individuals who fought against racial prejudice. • 19. Importance of Grammar Essay A.Introduction It is not uncommon to say that grammar instruction plays an important role in language teaching. Regarding the status and importance of grammar teaching, a variety of opinions have been made. Batstone (1994) states that language without grammar would be chaotic: countless words without the indispensable guidelines for how they can be ordered and modified (p. 4). More vividly, Wang (2010) makes two similes. She compares grammar to the frame of a house, which is a decisive factor to ensure the solidness of it. Additionally, she regards grammar as a walking stick, whose function is to help and support students to learn English. Thus, the nature of grammar instruction manifests its own significance as it helps students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... B.Evaluation of Miss Wong s TeachingApproach B(1). Teaching philosophy It is teachers beliefs rather than their knowledge that have a greater influence on their instruction (William Burden, 2000). Meighan suggests seven kinks of teachers beliefs about learners: resisters, receptacles, raw materials, clients, partners, individual explorers and democratic explorers. Unlike the first three concepts which focus on teachers, the last four require learners active involvement (as cited in William Burden, 2000). In Miss Wong s teaching approach, a PPP model (i.e., Presentation, Practice and Production) is generally adopted. She firstly presents target grammatical structure of passive voice. Then students do some exercises along with teacher s answer checking. However, it seems the final production step is omitted, resulting in students lacking opportunities to apply the knowledge into other contexts. From her instruction, we can see Miss Wong tends to regard her students as receptacles that are required to absorb the items she transmits. What the instruction concerns is whether students can transform sentences from active to passive or vice verse from a structural level, which is a typical example of a ... They have proven to be genetically resistant to many diseases, leading to greater yields of crops and less manual labor. Approximately 150 million hectares of land are currently being used solely for GM plants. Farmer profits have increased by 66% and crop yields have increased by 22%. With this success rate, it might be difficult to see the negative effects of increasing the prevalence of GM Crops throughout the world and in the food supply. Although GM plants have increased the international food supply and made the process of farming more efficient, GM crops have actually decreased the biodiversity present in the world, harming the environment they inhabit and the society that depends on them. Many developing countries have have actively introduced GM plants into their agricultural sphere while many others are skeptical. Other countries are divided; though their government may approve of the use of GMO s , many groups within the nation are in opposition for adopting them. The issue about the use of GM crops continues to remain a national issue, with each country being responsible for addressing it for their own individual nation and citizens. Building a room with non parallel surfaces and then applying shellac to all the surfaces so make them acoustically reflective creates an echo/reverb chamber. A speaker and microphones in the room would pick up the reflection of the speakers output this method was very popular in the 60 s. Soon enough a new technology of reverb came about, Spring reverb. Sam Phillips of Sun Records had used tape echo when recording Elvis in the early days. Spring reverb is a type of electromechanical reverb device. It creates a reverb effect by inducing sound vibrations at one end of a long wire (which is coiled into a spring to decrease the amount of area it takes up, that s why it is called spring reverb). Another transducer at the extreme end picks up the vibrations. As the waves reflect back and forth from one end of the spring to the other, and back, a reverb effect is produced. Spring reverbs have a harsh, trebly sound (and vulnerable to exterior shock), but they are inexpensive to build and provided a new way for reverb. Eventually the technology became more advanced and a new form of reverb was created; plate reverb changed the reverb game in 1957 when German company EMT (Elektromesstecknik) released the first plate reverb, EMT 140 Reverberation Unit. This plate reverb system used an electromechanical transducer to create vibration in a large plate of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Martin Luther And John Calvin Essay The Renaissance was a time where individuals questioned numerous aspects of European culture and society, which have collectively broadened the worldview from medieval to modern. As such, a new wave of theological thinking emerged from the dissent of the late Medieval church, and this is commonly known as the Reformation. Martin Luther is often credited as the Great Man whose Ninety Five Thesis a provocative set of questions targeting the Church set in motion the pivotal process of religious change, known as Protestantism. The radical change from medieval Christianity to modern Christianity is often confined to the ideas of two important men: Martin Luther and John Calvin. It is also important to note the vastness of time that the Renaissance dominated compared to the short period within 1517 to 1559 that these two reformers lived. Yet without them, without the challenging and convincing religious arguments and questions they put forward justification by faith alone, the doctrine of double predestination the religious change as seen in the sixteenth century, as well as even the name of the movement could ve been very different. In the year 1509, the year in which John Calvin was born, Martin Luther had already begun spreading his teachings. Chavez s perseverance helped the Chicanos get closer to their goal of equal rights. Despite what he had been through, he never wanted to quit fighting. In addition, Cesar Chavez showed perseverance during a protest march from Delano to Sacramento. Chavez, who was honored for his great activism, started the march to get the attention of the country. As noted, during the 300 mile march, Chavez sprained his ankle. When told to rest, Chavez declined and continued to march. Cyclic voltammograms (A) and Nyquist plots (B) recorded at bare GCE (a), ОІ Ni(OH)2 /GCE (b) and ОІ Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE (c) in a 0.1 M KCl solution containing 5 mM Fe(CN)63 /4 . Inset of Fig. 3B: Equivalent circuit applied to fit impedance measurements, where: Rs is the resistance of electrolyte solution; Rct is the charge transfer resistance, W is warburg impedance and CPE is constant phase element. 3.5.Electrocatalytic oxidation of nitrite on the modified electrode The electrocatalytic activity of the ОІ Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE toward nitrite was studied by recording cyclic voltammograms from the range of potential 0.3 to 1.1 V in the absence (a) and presence (d) of 100 ОјM nitrite, and compared with other different electrodes such as ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE and bare GCE. As can be seen from Fig. 4, there is no well defined peak on bare GCE, which may be due to the sluggish electron transfer process in GCE. At ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE, the weak peak appears at 0.96 V related to oxidation process of NO2в€’ to NO3в€’ according to the following reaction: NO2в€’ + H2O NO3в€’ + 2H+ + 2eв€’(8) In addition, no evidence of peaks was found at ОІ Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE in the absence of nitrite, while after adding 100 ВµM nitrite into the phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0), an obvious irreversible oxidation peak at about 0.82 V is observed (curve d), which is 140 mV negatively shifted compared with ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE. Furthermore, the oxidation peak current on ОІ Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE is larger than that on ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE. This indicated that the large effective area of electrode resulting from high conductivity and high surface area of CDs, as well as the synergistic effects of ОІ Ni(OH)2 and CDs improve the catalytic behavior toward the oxidation of nitrite.Fig. 4. cyclic voltammograms (CVs) of the bare GCE (b), ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE (c), and ОІ Ni(OH)2/CDs/GCE (a, d) in the absence (a) and presence of 100 ОјM nitrite (b, c, d) recorded in 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0) at the scan rate of 50 mV sв€’1. Effect of pH solution The effects of the solution pH on the peak current and potential for nitrite oxidation using ОІ Ni(OH)2/CDs/GC electrode were investigated by 0.1 mol lв€’1 phosphate buffer in the pH range of 1 10. • 37. Irony in Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown Essay examples Irony in Young Goodman Brown Nathaniel Hawthorne s tale Young Goodman Brown is replete, is saturated, with irony. This essay will amply illustrate the validity of this statement. At the outset of the story a young Puritan husband departs at sunset from his young Puritan wife, And Faith, as the wife was aptly named, thrust her own pretty head into the street, letting the wind play with the pink ribbons of her cap, while she called to Goodman Brown. The author says that Faith is aptly named, an ironic statement since she, later in the evening, is being received into the assembly of devil worshippers as a new convert to the evil group. Not only is her name ironic, but also the description of her as pretty, and as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That he should criticize Faith in the very next sentence for doubting his intentions is, of course, ironic since his intentions are thoroughly reprehensible. Though she is a beginning devil worshipper, Faith s response to her husband uses the very language of a Puritan minister: Then God bless you! said Faith, with the pink ribbons, and may you find all well, when you come back. Quite ironic. Likewise Goodman s response to Faith is that of a devout Puritan sitting in the front row at church on Sunday morning: Amen! cried Goodman Brown. Say thy prayers, dear Faith, and go to bed at dusk, and no harm will come to thee. And his intentions are quite as evil as hers. As Goodman turns the corner at the meeting house, his remorseful thoughts exalt the goodness of his wife: What a wretch am I, to leave her on such an errand! She talks of dreams, too. Methought, as she spoke, there was trouble in her face, as if a dream had warned her what work is to be done tonight. But, no, no! twould kill her to think it. Well; she s a blessed angel on earth; and after this one night, I ll cling to her skirts and follow her to Heaven. Ironically, Goodman regards her goodness as unimpeachable and sublime. In the next sentence the author counterposes a good at the beginning of the sentence, and an evil at the end of the same sentence for ironic effect: With this excellent resolve for the future, Goodman Brown felt himself ... • 38. The Importance Of Standing Up And Face Your Beliefs Stand up and face your fears, or they will defeat you, once said LL Cool J. Unequivocally, this is extremely accurate, and one can name many events that pertain to this topic. Personally, I believe that it is important to speak your beliefs and share your opinions. One reason is that many opportunities are lost is due to the fact that people choose not to speak up. Many avoid speaking up because of peer pressure and the desire of fitting in. They are fearful of being judged if they choose or believe the wrong thing. At times, the average population thinks it is better to keep quiet; although, in reality, it can bring significant consequences by not communicating. It does take courage to speak up, but half if not most of the time it leads to positive outcomes. It is imperative to stand for your beliefs because it can make a difference whether it is minute or substantial.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By standing up for ourselves and sharing our opinions, we also build up self confidence. While building up our inner strength, we motivate other people to speak up and not be as afraid to stand up for what they believe in. It builds character in you and others around you. After one person expresses their beliefs, it happens to rub off on others and has a domino effect. Once an abundance of individuals share their opinion on a certain topic, they can take a vote and see what the majority wants. However, if no one were to take a vote on what they believe is better, then we would remain in the same position we started with. We would never progress, and our world would be easily ... African Americans damages the institute of slavery by escaping and participating in rebellions. On average, 1,000 slaves escaped per year. They wanted freedom so bad that they took the chance of being caught and whipped by their masters. Harriet Tubman was a slave who ran away and returned to plantations several times to rescue the rest of her family, as well as other slaves. Question 3: While Nash argues that many colonial Americans supported the idea of ending slavery, he suggests that there were a few major challenges to making this a reality. What were these challenges and what suggestions did abolitionists make to overcome these challenges? Be sure to include specific plans for ending slavery such as can be found in chapter 1 and 2 of Race and Revolution and sources such as can be found on pages 146 165 of that book. The two major challenges of abolishing slavery were economic and social. The first was economic; how would slaveowners be compensated? The second was social: how would freed slaves be fit into the social fabric of the new nation? (Nash 2001, 35) In 1790, the Quakers and the Pennsylvania Abolition Society, known as the Foster Committee, got together and petitioned Congress to use their powers to end slavery. The petitions arrived shortly after Congress had taken up Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton s Report on Public Credit, which proposed that the federal government assume and fund the Revolutionary War debts of the states. (Nash 2001 38) The Foster committee specified how inhumane slavery was and how everyone deserved to be free; despite the color of their skin. The Southerners defended slavery, stating the slave trade rescued blacks from African savagery. They also stated how Congress was unable to emancipate slavery until 1808. The support from the ... Genome Manipulation Essay Targeted genome editing technology is an area of great attention for biomedical research fields, as it has potential in clinical applications to cure or improve some genetic diseases. In particular, the case of genome manipulation has been revolutionized by the development of the CRISPR/Cas 9 system. Despite recent advances in editing targeted genes inside of cultured cells, in vivo targeted transgene integrations are still out of reach, because of current tools. Principally, this applies to nondividing cells, which are made up of adult tissues, including the brain, eyes, ears, and pancreas, and halts the development of treatments for a broad range of genetic disorders. They improved the NHEJ machinery to collaborate with the CRISPR system, allowing DNA to be inserted at precise locations in the genome, and then inserted an inert virus to deliver HITI s package of genetic instructions to neurons derived from human embryonic stem cells (...). The innovation allows the cells to glue the ends of cut targeted DNA back together, with the extra addition of the DNA template in between the cut targeted DNA, via NHEJ. In the case of the cellre joining without the added insertion or mutation, the CRISPR system would reform and repeat the process. Likewise, donor DNA was designed to recreate the cut site, for the situation of the insertion gluing back together in the wrong orientation. (CDB, 2017, Scheme of HITI method) Before HITI, recent techniques in the area of gene editing were focused on using a natural DNA repair pathway, called homology directed repair (HDR). These systems are targeted at dividing cells, such as the skin, but has been proven to be ineffective in nondividing cells, and therefore inefficient to provide solutions to genetic disorders in adult tissue. However, the non homologous end joining (NHEJ) pathway is an additional natural DNA repair pathway, which is typically unused in gene insertion, as studies have shown that NHEJ is error prone when used to turn off targeted genes (...). A policy could be good in terms of it affecting people positively, addressing a problem, or by creating a jumpstart for change. Due to different standards on what is good, a policyI think is great for people could be thought of as awful by the next person. Also, a category I believe is important and needs reform could be one that is unimportant to others. Within the Social Security website it mentions the policies history and who it originally targeted in 1935 when first created by stating, this Act provided for unemployment insurance, old age insurance, and means tested welfare programs. (Patricia Martin David Weaver, Social Security: A Program and Policy History. ) From this, it shows that multiple groups were kept in mind in attempt to include all those in need. Even better, there has since been more categories added under Social Security that include Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Food and Nutrition Assistance, Veterans Assistance, and many others. By doing this, equality under the policy is provided because there are programs created for different situations. Normally we think of the CPU as the brains of the computer, and that s true, but they are also much more than that. They provide the computer with the ability to perform many special tasks, and contain many special features. They can range from very high end processors, to those who are lower end without all of the speed and features. When choosing a CPU, it is always important to do research to determine which CPU is the best for your requirements. Without a CPU, the computer would not be able to function.
