Never judge a Librarian by their cover: looking beyond job titles.
So, what do you do"? Five words that can lead to a one word answer, open the door to a world of opportunity or
conjure up a particular scene from "It's a Wonderful Life".
Does any derivative of 'librarian' feature in your first response? From the simple ticking of a box in a form to
how we describe ourselves on social media, do we limit our career development by judging by our own
cover? This session would be an opportunity to discuss these and other questions around how we see
ourselves professionally and how (we think) our profession is perceived. I admit a particular fascination with this
topic as my answers to these question have morphed over the last 20+ years so I would welcome the chance
discuss and dissect.
