To say that someone is going to do something in
Spanish we use this formula:
1. Conjugate the verb ir (to go)
2. Add the word a (to)
3. Add the infinitivo of the action they’re going to do
An infinitivo is the most basic version of a verb
and ends in either AR, ER, or IR
In English, an infinitivo translates as “to (action)”
Ejemplo: the infinitive bailar means to dance
3. Here’s how we conjugate the verb ir
Yo voy Nosotros/Nosotras vamos
Tú vas X
Él/Ella/Ud. va Ellos/Ellas/Uds. van
4. This means that . . .
Yo voy a = I am going to
Tú vas a = You are going to
Ella va a = She is going to
Nosotros vamos a = We are going to
