IPv6 adoption is becoming increasingly urgent, as IPv4 address exhaustion is predicted within 3 years. The presentation provides an overview of IPv6 deployment, including obtaining an IPv6 allocation, migrating network addressing and routing protocols, and enabling IPv6 on routers, servers and DNS. It also offers free IPv6 transit from Init7 to help deploy IPv6 in Switzerland.
Seven years ago at LCA, Van Jacobsen introduced the concept of net channels but since then the concept of user mode networking has not hit the mainstream. There are several different user mode networking environments: Intel DPDK, BSD netmap, and Solarflare OpenOnload. Each of these provides higher performance than standard Linux kernel networking; but also creates new problems. This talk will explore the issues created by user space networking including performance, internal architecture, security and licensing.

IPv6 Segment Routing is a major IPv6 extension that provides a modern version of source routing that is currently being developed within the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). We propose the first open-source implementation of IPv6 Segment Routing in the Linux kernel. We first describe it in details and explain how it can be used on both endhosts and routers. We then evaluate and compare its performance with plain IPv6 packet forwarding in a lab environment. Our measurements indicate that the performance penalty of inserting IPv6 Segment Routing Headers or encapsulat- ing packets is limited to less than 15%. On the other hand, the optional HMAC security feature of IPv6 Segment Routing is costly in a pure software implementation. Since our implementation has been included in the official Linux 4.10 kernel, we expect that it will be extended by other researchers for new use cases.
Presented at ANRW'17 https://irtf.org/anrw/2017/program.html on behalf of David Lebrun
The presentation in great details explains how modern CPUs work, what is instruction pipeline, cache, superscalar CPUs, out of order execution, speculative execution, branch misses and what is branch predictor.
Then the presentation explains step-by-step how the spectre attack works and why it was possible.
Next it touches process isolation, system calls and privilege levels, explains step-by-step how the meltdown attack works and why it was possible.
At the very end there is a source code for Spectre-based Meltdown attack (i.e. 2-in-1) in just 99 lines of code.
NAT and firewall presentation - how setup a nice firewallCassiano Campes
This is a presentation I did during my internship @ PARKS in 2014. It shows how to configure NAT & firewall rules using IPTABLES.
I hope this can be useful to somebody in the future.
The presentation addresses the most typical issues during network software development and testing, explains the causes and suggests solutions:
- overlapping IP networks
- invalid netmasks
- incomplete routing configuration
- incorrect local MAC addresses
- unidirectional packet generator and unicast flood
- disabled ethernet auto negotiation

Empowering the Unbanked: The Vital Role of NBFCs in Promoting Financial Inclu...Vighnesh Shashtri
In India, financial inclusion remains a critical challenge, with a significant portion of the population still unbanked. Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) have emerged as key players in bridging this gap by providing financial services to those often overlooked by traditional banking institutions. This article delves into how NBFCs are fostering financial inclusion and empowering the unbanked.

There is no set date for when Pi coins will enter the market.
However, the developers are working hard to get them released as soon as possible.
Once they are available, users will be able to exchange other cryptocurrencies for Pi coins on designated exchanges.

US Economic Outlook - Being Decided - M Capital Group August 2021.pdfpchutichetpong
The U.S. economy is continuing its impressive recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and not slowing down despite re-occurring bumps. The U.S. savings rate reached its highest ever recorded level at 34% in April 2020 and Americans seem ready to spend. The sectors that had been hurt the most by the pandemic specifically reduced consumer spending, like retail, leisure, hospitality, and travel, are now experiencing massive growth in revenue and job openings.
Could this growth lead to a “Roaring Twenties”? As quickly as the U.S. economy contracted, experiencing a 9.1% drop in economic output relative to the business cycle in Q2 2020, the largest in recorded history, it has rebounded beyond expectations. This surprising growth seems to be fueled by the U.S. government’s aggressive fiscal and monetary policies, and an increase in consumer spending as mobility restrictions are lifted. Unemployment rates between June 2020 and June 2021 decreased by 5.2%, while the demand for labor is increasing, coupled with increasing wages to incentivize Americans to rejoin the labor force. Schools and businesses are expected to fully reopen soon. In parallel, vaccination rates across the country and the world continue to rise, with full vaccination rates of 50% and 14.8% respectively.
However, it is not completely smooth sailing from here. According to M Capital Group, the main risks that threaten the continued growth of the U.S. economy are inflation, unsettled trade relations, and another wave of Covid-19 mutations that could shut down the world again. Have we learned from the past year of COVID-19 and adapted our economy accordingly?
“In order for the U.S. economy to continue growing, whether there is another wave or not, the U.S. needs to focus on diversifying supply chains, supporting business investment, and maintaining consumer spending,” says Grace Feeley, a research analyst at M Capital Group.
While the economic indicators are positive, the risks are coming closer to manifesting and threatening such growth. The new variants spreading throughout the world, Delta, Lambda, and Gamma, are vaccine-resistant and muddy the predictions made about the economy and health of the country. These variants bring back the feeling of uncertainty that has wreaked havoc not only on the stock market but the mindset of people around the world. MCG provides unique insight on how to mitigate these risks to possibly ensure a bright economic future.

3. IPv6 @ RIPE #56
Only one topic @ RIPE #56 in Berlin (May 5-9, 2008):
IPv6!
http://rosie.ripe.net/
3
4. Face facts:
Less than 1000 days until the free
IPv4 pool gets exhausted.
- Prediction by Geoff Huston, APNIC
http://www.potaroo.net/tools/ipv4/
- Quoting Mike Leber, Hurricane Electric (he.net):
Do you have an IPv6 plan?
How long do you think it will be until Sarbanes Oxley and
SAS 70 auditors start requiring disclosure of IPv4
exhaustion as a business continuity risk, as well as the
presence or lack thereof of an IPv6 plan?
4
5. The good news #1:
- If you are a LIR, request your IPv6 space now. It's just a
formality:
https://lirportal.ripe.net/
-> Request Forms
-> IPv6 First Allocation Request Form
After receiving the IPv6 allocation, put the appropriate
route object into the RIPE database.
5
6. The good news #2:
You don't have to reinvent the wheel. Everything you know
about
- BGP4
- Subnet Masks
- OSPF
- Route-Maps, Prefix-lists, AS-Path, Filter-Lists
is still valid. More or less.
- DualStack (IPv4/IPv6 on the same equipment) works well.
- Do not think of deploying IPv6-Tunnels (unless you are an
DSL/Cable user).
Initial IPv6 Deployment in a typical small provider network
6 is less than 1 day of work.
7. IPv6 Address Plan #1:
- RIPE's allocation to the LIR is a /32
- Customer Assignments are usually a /48
(don't bother anymore how many addresses the customer
should get)
- IPv4 /30 (PtP) becomes IPv6 /126
- Host Address (IPv4 /32) becomes IPv6 /128
Deploying an address plan:
- Stick to your existing IPv4 address scheme, for
convenience.
- Use a /48 for loopbacks
- Use another /48 for Point-to-Point links
7
8. IPv6 Address Plan #2:
Remember the notation of IPv6:
2001:db8::/32 =
2001:0db8:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000/32
- 0 are omitted
- two colons are replacing many 0
Note: 2001:db8::/32 should be used for any sample
documentation.
8
10. Migration to IPv6 #1
IPv6 Loopback (Host) Addresses.
We use 2001:db8:1::/48 for Loopbacks, and the last IPv4
IPv6 Transit IPv6 Peer
octet corresponds to the IPv6 Loopback address.
2001:db8:1::101/128 2001:db8:1::102/128
Router 2
Router 1
2001:db8:1::103/128
Router 3
Router 4
2001:db8:1::104/128
10
11. Migration to IPv6 #2
IPv6 PtP / LAN Addresses.
We use 2001:db8:2::/48 for LAN and PtP. Again, the
IPv6 Transit IPv6 Peer
addressing scheme corresponsds to the legacy IPv4.
PtP uses /126 addresses.
2001:db8:1::101/128 2001:db8:1::102/128
Router 2
Router 1 2001:db8:2::1/112 2001:db8:2::2/112
2001:db8:2::3/112
2001:db8:1::103/128
Router 3
2001:db8:2:1::d/126
Router 4 2001:db8:2:1::e/126
2001:db8:1::104/128
11
12. Migration to IPv6 #3
Server (End User) Addresses
Assign a /48 to every end user, Example 2001:db8:ab::/48
IPv6 Transit IPv6 Peer
2001:db8:1::101/128 2001:db8:1::102/128
Router 2
Router 1 2001:db8:2::1/112 2001:db8:2::2/112
2001:db8:2::3/112
2001:db8:1::103/128
Router 3
2001:db8:2:1::d/126
Router 4 2001:db8:2:1::e/126
2001:db8:1::104/128
2001:db8:ab::1/48
Customer Server 2001:db8:ab::50/48
12
20. IPv6 Deployment #8:
Start propagating your IPv6 netblock. Advise your
Transit Provider in order to adjust his inbound filter list.
Cisco / Foundry Networks:
!
router bgp 6500
network 2001:db8::/32
!
Check your propagation in various IPv6 Looking Glass.
20
21. Linux Server / Apache 2
Configure your Linux Server with IPv6:
add into /etc/rc.local
#
ifconfig eth0 inet6 add 2001:db8:ab::50/48
#
Reboot or execute /etc/rc.local ... check connectivity with
ping6.
Apache 1.x is not IPv6 compatible. If not done yet, migrate to
Apache 2.
Good reading is Peter Bieringer's IPv6 Howto:
http://www.bieringer.de/linux/IPv6/IPv6-HOWTO/
For Apache 2 see section #4.
21
22. DNS Server
Configure your DNS record with IPv6:
;
servername.com. A 192.168.3.50
www IN CNAME servername.com.
;
servername.com. AAAA 2001:db8:ab::50
www CNAME servername.com.
Note: DNS servers don't need to be accessible via IPv6 to
resolve AAAA records, however IPv6-only clients may have
problems to resolve.
22
23. Check your IPv6 Connectivity
If you don't have an IPv6-enabled client, try the tools of SixXS:
