2. For the learning preference quiz that we took in the beginning of the
semester, I received the scores: Active- 3, Sensing-11, Visual-5, and
Sequential-7. I think my results are pretty true to meaning because I do
prefer sequential learning to global learning. From my past learning
experiences, I do like to learn things sequentially to understand better
rather then globally learning it as a whole because I can get mixed up
really easily. By the end of the semester now, I think the scores that I
received are still pretty true. From looking at my learning experiences
this past semester, it does seem like I have a well balance of being an
active and reflective learner, because I like to do something actively to
remember what I leaned and then reflect on what I learned. I think
learning preferences are nice to know about yourself because then you
find something else about yourself that you never knew. I find it really
interesting to learn about people’s different learning styles, because
there are so many. I think it also relates to personality too. Learning my
personal preferences did somewhat help me his semester because my
scores seemed pretty true I used that specific type of learning to help
with my studies, and so far I am doing well in my classes this semester.

3. In the beginning of this class I chose to be the learning warrior pathway.
I chose this because I wanted to use what I learn and incorporate it into
my other classes. The social technology quest helped me because I was
able to use the some of the skills in the pathways to help me with my
classes this semester. At the beginning I don’t think I followed one
pathway, because I tried out all the others, rather then just sticking with
the warrior path. I am glad I got to try different pathways because I later
found that the learning guide was a good way for me to learn. I liked this
pathway because I found that I like learning with others. During one of
my hardest classes this semester, I studied with a group of my friends
that are also in the same class. We helped each other with questions and
we gave each other really helpful tips. I even gave them some of the
information we learned in this class. Overall, I am glad that I changed my
pathway because if I were to be a personal learner (warrior pathway) this
semester, I don’t think I would be doing so well in some of my classes.
Although I think sometimes, for example in my past semesters at San
Francisco State University, I’ve been a personal learner and it’s helped
me succeed in classes. I these two different pathways have helped me
with my studies.

4. The multimedia quest was a really interesting topic because I
never noticed how much multimedia I use a day. I thought the
lecture slides and the screencast were both really helpful
because it helped me understand what exactly is multimedia. I’ve
always thought multimedia were just computer videos, but
learning that it is much more then that is great! I would have
never guessed that newspapers and textbooks were multimedia
as well. The activity that I really liked in the multimedia quest
was the human anatomy, hip replacement activity. This was a
really interesting activity, because it is actually a class that I am
taking this semester along with this and a few others. The set up
of this activity was a really fun way to learn, because I got to
visually see and learn what the procedure was for a hip
replacement. I love games that are like these because I
comprehend more with the visual aid. Along with visual learning,
this also has the verbal activity too because a person was talking
to you and walking you through the different steps. This was
perfect for my learning preferences, visually and also verbally.

5. Number 1:
My favorite was the multimedia quest. I like this multimedia
technology because it was a really great way for me to
learn. I am a visual and active learner, and this technology
allows me to learn in a really positive way. I really like
learning games where you use steps and follow an
instructor. And the level two activities were perfect
because it had the perfect structure. I also like multimedia
because some of them the learner or player itself gets to
play a role in the subject who engages people more. As a
visual learner it was really great to be able to look at the
diagrams and such up close. After learning about the hip
replacement in one of the activities, I also looked up
another one for my other science classes and found other
multimedia flashes that were really helpful.

6. Number 2:
I also tried out the screen cast multimedia technology. It was
really helpful because I started looking some up on
youtube.com and found some videos of tutorials of all
kinds of topics. I also found many types of educational
ones as well. Just in time for my finals, I will be using a lot
of screen casts to help me study and understand specific
concepts. After learning about how I learn, I found that
visually is how I learn best. And it is even better if there
were verbal words included in these visual learning’s, and
this is what screen casts are all about. It is interesting
because I never really thought about how much of a visual
learner I am. For example, if I were to just listen to a
lecture without any written our words of diagrams it is
really hard for me to learn. And that leads to our next
topic, using podcasts.
Eleanor Lau
7. Number 3:
A few of my classes this past semester used
podcasts. It is nice to finally know what type of
recordings those are called because I found that I
do not learn well with it at all. It does not grasp
my full attention. I found that I am likely to dose
off and think about something else or get
distracted by something else. But sometimes
there is no other choice then to just try to focus
and pay attention. I found that pulling out a piece
of paper and pen helps because I usually go back
to something that I missed and listen to it again,
and jock down notes so that I can review back to
the visually later or even after the audio is done.

8. The learning tool that helped me the most would probably have to be
the youtube screen casts. I really liked this out of all the ones we learned
this semester because I feel like it has really helped me learn. When I
don’t understand how to solve a math equation, I always just look it up
on youtube and there are tutorials to help me go through the problem
each step at a time. I am really super surprised at how well it helped me
out because it showed when m instructor handed me back my test. I
think I would like to explore more of the podcasts because personally I
do not do well with them, but I would like to learn how to use them
better to fit with me. So far taking notes down and re-listening to parts
helps but it just really time consuming.
Multimedia flash palyers also worked well for my learning as well
because I started playing some of them and it has helped me remember
concepts better in my mind. I just like to be part of the learning
experience and most of these flash players allow me to do so. Another
multimedia technology that worked well was the youtube tutorials. I tend
to love visual and active types of learning’s.

9. I am very sure that I will be using screen casts for a very long time, from
school settings all the way to start my career. I think it has to be the best
thing created! Now looking back I found that screen casts must have
been the best thing that I’ve gotten from this class this semester
because it has helped me out throughout this whole semester here at
San Francisco State University. Its just amazing how much help it has
given me, especially youtube. Its great that a lot of social sites are now
becoming more educational, for example, Facebook, and twitter. I think I
will definitely be using this later on in the future as well because I will
always have questions about all kinds of topics!
Like I said before, I will be continuing using screen casts because I
found the incredibility helpful to my learning experiences. Not only are
they helpful with my academic purposes, it also helps me with things
like make-up. I can uses this type of multimedia technology even at a
work station, if I were to give a presentation I can use a screen casts that
talks about the best ways of presenting. As for non-academic use, I
found myself using it for how to use different make-up brushes, or
which colors are the best to mix with for eye shadows. This was overall
a great class to learn this semester!
