1. Thermal Engineering
Thermal Engineering- Thermal engineering is a sub-discipline of mechanical engineering that deals
with the movement of heat energy. It is an important field that studies the transfer of heat energy
between two systems, transforming the heat energy into another form of energy.

2. Thermodynamic State
Each Unique condition of a System is called a Thermodynamic state. The state of a system is a condition of
the system at any particular moment which can be identified by the statement of its properties.

3. Thermodynamic Process
Thermodynamic Process-
When the system changes its state from one equilibrium
state to another equilibrium state, then the path of
successive state through which the system has passed is
known as Thermodynamic Process-
 Thermodynamic Process- 1-A-2 , 2-B-1
 Thermodynamic cycle- 1-A-2-B-1

4. Thermodynamic System-
Thermodynamic System is defined as a definite area or a space where some thermodynamic
process is taking place.

Types of Thermodynamic System- 1. Closed System
2. Open System
3. Isolated System

Heat-
Energy transferred of mass, across the boundary of a system because of temperature difference
between the system and surrounding
Work-
The product of the force and distance moved in the direction of force
Internal Energy-
It is the Energy possessed by a body or system due to its molecular arrangement and motion of the
molecules
