2. Oracle’s Primavera P6 is most sought after
software tool that is used for project
management. Primavera P6 can be used for
managing intricate details of a project to top-
level management details

6. The enterprise project structure (EPS) represents the
hierarchical structure of all projects in the database.
The EPS can be subdivided into as many levels or
nodes as needed to represent work at your
organization. Nodes at the highest, or root, level
might represent divisions within your company,
project phases, site locations, or other major
groupings that meet the needs of your organization;
projects always represent the lowest level of the
hierarchy. Every project must be included in an EPS
node.
7.
8. The Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS)
defines how people within a company are organized
and what rights and access they have within
projects. For example, a company that builds ships
may have different facilities, with different staff at
each facility Project Manager

9. Calendars are used to set in a project and its
resources’ working times to accurately reflect
resources, scheduling, and tracking activities.
There are 3 types of available calendars, which are:
(1) Global calendar.
(2) Project calendar
(3) Resource calendar
10.
11. Activites
There are 6 types of activities in Primavera P6.
• Task Dependent.
• Resource Dependent.
• Start Milestone.
• Finish Milestone.
• Level of Effort.
• WBS Summary.
13. A relationship defines how an activity relates to the
start or finish of another activity.
Relationship lines graphically illustrate the links
between activities in Gantt charts and Activity
Networks.
Thereare 4 types of relationships available-
(1) Finish TO Start(FS)
(2) Start TO Start(FS)
(3) Finish TO Finish(FF)
(4) Start TO Finish(SF)
15. Resources include the personnel and equipment that
perform work on activities across all projects. Resources
are generally reused between activities and/or projects. In
P6 Professional you can create a resource pool that
reflects your organization's resource structure and
supports the assignment of resources to activities. P6
Professional also enables you to distinguish between
labor, material, and nonlabor resources. Labor and
nonlabor resources are always time-based, and material
resources, such as consumable items, use a unit of
measure you can specify. Youcan create and assign
resource calendars and define a resource's roles, contact
information, and time-varying prices.
16.
17. Constraints are used to impose restrictions on
activities that cannot be realistically scheduled with
logical links.
Constraints can be categorized as:
1. Primary Constraints
2. Secondary Constraints
18. Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
A WBS represents a hierarchical breakdown of a
project in to elements.
The WBS Detail window contains the following tabs:
•General
•Notebook
•Budget Log
•Spending Plan
•Budget Summary
•WPs and Docs
•Earned Value

20. User Defined Fields
User defined fields are custom fields you create to
track information specific to certain subject areas, such
as projects, activities, resources, issues, or risks. For
example, you can track additional activity data, such as
delivery dates and purchase order numbers.
